I like this introduction to timeboxing and I agree with the author’s reflections on the benefits. I’ve been timeboxing with more discipline since November and found it very impactful. The two most positive outcomes for me have been a much more concrete sense of my actual capacity/lack of for new work in the short term (weeks, months), and liberation from a sense of daily urgency and constant task review and reprioritization. When I do need to reprioritize, it feels much easier to do. I mark all calendar blocks as tentative, except those I have to use to meet a deadline/that are a firm commitment, otherwise my calendar would look completely blocked for months to colleagues trying to schedule a meeting, etc.
