Workforce perhaps a #project team demography is usually a multi-generational workforce( pre-boomers/boomers, Gen X/Y/Z) with their preferred learning style, values, and ethics. Hence, a common cause of failure in the #engineering(fabrication/manufacturing/maintenance) space is the lack of attention to this human element(Chung,1996; Needy et Al., 2002) Below is a practical industry example; These are responses from #hullGuaging #inspectors working at height IRATA International in a crude tank 40m below sea level performing the same #UT task Inspector 1; I am taking thickness readings Inspector 2; I am making a living Inspector 3; I am ensuring no leaks/LOC(loss of containment) All responses reflect good work ethics but with varying values, vision, and self-actualization. You could tell which is pre-boomer/boomer or Gen-Xers/Yers/Zers. Ps; pre-boomers/boomers should remember that they are rapidly aging out of the workforce with the industry paradigm shift hence it is quite important to transfer institutional resources and experience rather than remaining a silent generation fond of yelly responses with NO feedback Fyi; STATUS IS TRANSIENT! #engineeringmanager #Qc #inspectors #freelancer

Following questions are explained in this video; Q1. A welder is qualified in the 3G position. In what welding positions can he perform welding, specifically for groove joints?_ Q2: Can a 4G position qualified welder weld in the groove joint of a plate in horizontal position?_ Q3. A SMAW procedure qualification test was conducted on a 38 mm thick test coupon . What is the maximum thickness up to which welding can be carried out using this procedure (WPS)?_ Q4. A welder deposited 10 mm thick weld during the performance qualification test (wqt). Up to what maximum thickness of weld metal is the welder qualified to weld?_ Q5. A welder is qualified with E7018 (without backing), can he weld with E6013? https://lnkd.in/g69hhp7Q

Wilkinson Coutts Return to MIDDLESBROUGH, home of the famous "chicken parmo!" to deliver another highly requested ASME Plant Inspector Level 1! ASME Plant Inspector Level 1 🗓 Classroom Dates: Tuesday 11th-Friday 14th June 2024 📍 Classroom Location: Middlesbrough, UK 📧 Book now! Contact Leanne Campbell at Leanne@wilkinsoncoutts.com ℹ Course Info: The ASME Plant Inspector Certificate provides training and certification in the fundamental principles of inspection assessment and management of fixed-pressure equipment. Because it is based on sound engineering practices, it is of particular relevance to inspection situations in which site practices do not rely exclusively on American Petroleum Institute (API) codes. Delegates suitable for entering ASME L1 are typically from a background in one or more of the following fields: · Plant operator/shift engineer · NDE technician · Mechanical technician/fitter · In-service ‘insurance’ surveyor for small plant · New construction ‘source’ inspector for fabricated equipment. Most delegates come to the course with some level of previous practical engineering background. Plant inspection is more of a practical subject, rather than academic. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our helpful team at info@wilkinsoncoutts.com #ASME #training #plantinspection #plantinspector #integrity #api #wilkinsoncoutts #certificate #jobs #inspectionjobs #assetmanagement #

Safety Arrangements and Quality Control in Flange Opening Process 1. Production Line Operator Permit: - According to local regulations and industry standards, necessary permits must be obtained from relevant authorities before any work begins. This includes safety and environmental permits. 2. Production Line Operator Checklist: - Providing a comprehensive checklist to ensure that all safety and proximity considerations are adhered to is essential. This includes checking tools and equipment, chemicals used, and work processes. 3. Contractor Review: - The contractor must review and confirm the process of opening the flange according to safety and industry standards. This includes providing a work plan, determining manpower, and necessary equipment. 4. Commencement of Work: - After safety and risk analysis confirmation, the process of opening the flange begins. This includes stages such as preparing the work environment, using appropriate tools, and strictly adhering to safety procedures. 5. Safety: - All personnel must use required safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, and protective clothing. Additionally, quality and suitable tools and equipment must be used. 6. QA/QC Phase (Quality Control and Quality Assurance): - This phase is crucial and must be approved by both parties, i.e., the contractor and project engineers/supervisors. It involves thorough inspection and confirmation of technical and qualitative aspects of work execution, proper material usage, appropriate equipment and tools, and adherence to industry standards. Any changes or actions in the flange opening process must be reviewed and approved by the QA/QC team to ensure that the work is done correctly and with quality. 7. Maintenance and Completion of Work: - Upon completion of work, the flange must be securely closed, and all tools and equipment must be cleaned and stored in the designated area. These stages may vary depending on the specific conditions of each project, but these steps are typically part of the safety and work process that must be followed in every project. #Totalenergies #ExxonMobil #heat exchanger #gunvor group #montage opleiding

As a mechanical engineer, inspector or operator, understanding pressure basics to maintain mechanical integrity is crucial for fluid containment within vessels, pipes and tanks. Prioritizing variables such as cost, useful life, and fluid containment is key to reducing maintenance costs and extending equipment life. When it comes to prioritizing, I'm inclined to emphasize fluid containment. Design pressure is often associated with the maximum pressure a vessel can withstand, which is true, but the MAWP concept plays a vital role in recognizing the operational limits of the vessel. MAWP is based on design/construction conditions, providing additional operating margin. Within MAWP, we find two important concepts: corroded MAWP and cold new MAWP. The corroded MAWP considers the maximum load under corroding conditions and the designated temperature, while the cold new MAWP focuses on non-corroded conditions within a specific temperature range that does not affect the strength of the vessel material. Understanding these concepts is key to ensuring the structural integrity of equipment. #MechanicalEngineering #FluidContainment #PressureConcepts #EngineeringInsights #API #ASME #Inspection

Lockout-Tagout(LOTO): The Lock out, tag out is a safety procedure used to ensure that dangerous equipment is properly shut off and not able to be started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or repair work. The Lock color is identification of isolation work activities as: 1-Yellow lock for operation. 2-Green for electrical. 3-Blue for rotating. 4-Black for pipefitters. #mechanical #mechanicalengineering #mechanic #mechanics
