Funding in Europe may be dipping. But deeptech companies are leading their industries with the region’s growing talent pool. Pete Benedetto, Europe regional lead for Catalyst, shares the latest insights from our global mid-year VC snapshot: 💡 Europe is leading the charge in AI talent, with standout successes like ElevenLabs, pioneers in voice AI, and ICEYE, leading the “NewSpace” movement from Poland—both showcasing the region’s immense potential. 📉 Despite a decline in active investors, Europe’s startup landscape remains dynamic — impressive deeptech companies like Ireland’s XOCEAN, which just raised 30M GBP, and Italy’s D-Orbit, which raised $100M, continue to grow. 🚀 Türkiye’s success stories, including Peak Games’ $1.8B acquisition, fintech successes like Figopara and iyzico, and the bootstrapped success of Codeway and Papara are setting the stage for future growth. 🌍 While Spain and Italy have less VC investment compared to the UK, Germany, and France, they’ve been steadily gaining momentum in recent years with standout successes like Factorial and Bending Spoons.
