I agree! Thank you for sharing! We often find ourselves feeling different at the beginning of our journey. Just like our students, we need to feel safe and that we belong in the environment. Practices, training, and networking help us grow. We can achieve this by taking small steps, just as our students do. There will be challenges—different opinions, misinformation on social media, and unique situations. But we need to remember that each of us is different, and that’s what makes us unique. It’s important to talk about both our achievements and our struggles. How can we build a more inclusive society that grows together and changes the world for the better? We need dialogue and more people involved, sharing their experiences and practices. In some countries, practices are kept within organizations, but we must realize that we can’t build an inclusive society alone. On the other hand, we need to ensure educators receive proper training in inclusion and neuroscience. Not every country provides training in inclusion. It’s easy to say that specialists are there to support, but it doesn’t work that way. True implementation happens when we work together as a whole school community, where everyone feels they belong.

Creating emotionally safe spaces, cultures of reflection, dialogue, and growth—where it’s okay to professionally challenge the status quo for the benefit of children—needs to be balanced with clear expectations and maintaining a high image of children. This balance is fundamental to creating safe spaces for ALL and ensuring best practices that lead to the best outcomes for children. We’re learning so much about neuroscience and the impact of children’s lived experiences, and as we know better, we can do better. Thank you for sharing this article and for highlighting the importance of fostering growth and dialogue within our professional spaces—such an important conversation!
