Around 2015, researchers and vendors, faced with the near-complete gaming of viewability, began working on technology to measure attention paid to advertising and the resulting impact. Unsurprisingly, campaigns that captured more attention also drove better business outcomes. Subsequent studies found consistent results – longer durations of attention on individual impressions – were strongly correlated to increased impact throughout the marketing lifecycle, from awareness to sales. So, when it came time to create measures, many vendors and agencies gravitated towards duration-based attention metrics. What did Apple get right that the Metaverse hype didn’t? 🤔 Personalisation and ease of use. 💻 A lot of metaverse experiences started like a new game, disorienting, and had to do a lot of work to customise. ⏪ Whereas the Apple Vision Pro is more like an extension if your phone, access to messages, apps and with the option of using it for VR. 👓 💡 This is why I believe this tech is here to stay and in the next few years will become more widely used and something that brands need to plan for.
