Last week, CIRCULÉIRE Circular Economy Venture Lead Agnese Metitieri joined panelists Paul McSweeney, James Tombs, and Francis O'Haire at the Techies Go Green conference in the Guinness Enterprise Centre last week 💡 The panel tackled the question: 'How we can accelerate #CircularEconomy transformations for #Sustainable business success?' Just recently, Positive News published an article about the 10th anniversary of the Green Alley Award: https://lnkd.in/eKk9kMPc They had these (positive!) words to say about the list of soon-to-be 60 finalists who will have competed for our award: “It is a bulging-with-hope list of solutions that disrupt the accepted system of making products to be consumed and dumped at considerable cost to the planet.” The article sets the context that drove us to launch the award: the depletion of natural resources and our determination to support circular economy policies that will decouple economic growth from their use. Exciting News! Our recent publication with Alisha Tuladhar and Dimo Dimov focuses on the #circulareconomy, exploring the collaboration between Circular Start-Ups (CSUs) and established companies—an underexplored topic. Focusing on six UK-based CSUs, we shed light on their collaboration mechanisms with incumbents. Contrary to claims that the #circulareconomy is expensive and requires high risk/substantial changes, our findings reveal that CSUs can collaborate with incumbents in low-risk and cost effective ways, such as through outsourcing and service contracts. Alisha, our dearly missed PhD graduate, worked with Dimo and me. Tragically, shortly after her graduation, she unexpectedly passed away, leaving us with a profound sense of loss. Despite this difficult circumstance, we are determined to keep Alisha's legacy alive. 🔥 Warming up for the #KongressBW organized by >SMART> GREEN ACCELERATOR and EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau eG   😎 This week, MuWind attended a Warm-up session of the Kick-Start Green Innovation (KIGI) Program.   💪 This program, supported by the Umwelttechnik BW brings Startups together in order to tackle energy challenges.   ♻ In this session, we exchanged about how we can assess and reduce our product/service's footprint, through a lifecycle evaluation. We also got a briefing on the tool "Green Check Your Idea" (see 1st comment).   🏆 The main takeaways are:   🎯 1. Start simple: You need a model that can be used for 1st estimations and on which you can build up. 🔁 2. Craddle to craddle or Craddle to grave: You have to start at the material extraction, and finish at recycling/discarding. 🥇 3. Prioritize: Which levers have the biggest impact, which levers can you better activate. ♻ 4. Iterate, iterate, iterate.   This approach has been central to MuWind's product strategy:   Bamboo blades, no polymers, limitted number of materials, regional manufacturing for all the steal parts, standard components, 15y lifetime, easy repair...   😎 Are we stopping there?
