Exciting news! Taylor Searcy and I just published a new blog post called "Understanding Our Impact: Accounting for Scope 2 Emissions When and Where They Happen." Since 2016, General Motors has been working towards carbon neutrality by 2040. We've made great progress by securing the renewable energy needed to power all our U.S. operations by 2025, and we're aiming to do the same globally by 2035. To speed up our efforts, we believe it's important to update the way we measure carbon emissions. That's why we're part of the Emissions First Partnership, advocating for changes to the accounting standards. By considering where and when emissions happen, we can make smarter decisions about investing in clean energy and reduce our emissions even more. Our blog post explains this concept in more detail and highlights the need for accurate reporting and better decision-making. We're also working on a new Energy Data Platform with TimberRock which will help us track emissions in real-time and make decisions based on the carbon output of the energy grid. We invite you to join us on our journey towards a sustainable future. Read the full blog post to learn more about how we're accounting for emissions and making strategic decisions to reduce our impact on the environment. Together, we can make a difference. #IworkforGM https://lnkd.in/gfyqS_UG

As the world continues to move towards decarbonization, we discuss some situations where it might make more sense from a consumer perspective to choose a hybrid vehicle over an EV given the state of current technology and battery costs. This isn't to say that EV technology isn't improving, or that it isn't a critical part of our transition away from a fossil fuel economy, but rather to have an honest conversation about the decisions that ordinary individuals and families are making about what's right for them. #climatechange #sustainability #earth #nature #renewablenergy #renewables #renewableresource #renewablepower #decarbonization #cleanenergy #cleanpower #windpower #hybridvehicles #hybridvehicle

The recent surge in hybrid car sales, alongside a slowdown in EVs, reflects a pragmatic shift in the energy transition. While fully electric cars are critical for long-term sustainability, their growth has been hampered by infrastructure challenges, batteries cost and range anxiety. In contrast, hybrids offer a more immediate, scalable solution by reducing emissions while relying on existing fueling infrastructure. This trend underscores the importance of a balanced approach in the energy sector. In the short term, the focus should be on integrating renewable energy with conventional power generation. By blending these sources, we can ensure a stable and reliable energy supply while gradually reducing carbon emissions. This hybrid strategy—both in transportation and energy generation—paves the way for a smoother, more realistic transition to a sustainable future.

It's definitely not a secret that Yes Energy is one of my favorites. The experience and knowledge I gained from my time as an employee at Yes Energy- working with their amazing people, customers, and solutions for over 7 years, inspired me to make the move to this side of the industry over four years ago. After observing, supporting market participants and energy principals, researching, and analyzing energy data and markets for almost 20 years, I've come to the realization that at it's core, energy management is simply monetizing good stewardship practices. Want to reduce your emissions? Get familiar with your consumption, and work on increasing efficiency. Want to reduce utility use and spend? Manage it better by tracking data, and having actionable insights. Learn the patterns and trends that drive higher consumption- and take steps to improve. As Chad Burden always says, "you can't manage what you don't measure". The market insights and intel that Yes Energy provides, gives me confidence when helping our partners and clients save energy and money, learn about energy and how to be more efficient, and make better decisions when it comes to energy and stewardship.
