It takes place on 19 and 20 November 2024 and is entirely online. Over the last 5 years we have developed an exceptional event that is amongst the most impactful and engaging energy events that exist online. ENERGY2024 brings 1000-2000 thought leaders and change makers together 👉 to reconfirm why change is needed and give us the sense of urgency we need to act 👉 to share with us the latest insights about trends in energy & sustainability 👉 to equip us with new tools to deliver energy transition 👉 to provide context in an environment that changes constantly 👉 to work together across industries, across geographies and all stakeholder groups 👉to build new connections to accelerate sustainable energy together. We focus on Energy Transition as the greatest reinvention opportunity of our time. The expectation is that several Trillion $ of investments are required each year. Globally, RMI research shows rapid advances in the deployment of wind, solar, battery storage, and electric vehicles. In the US, historic investments are spurring a cleantech manufacturing boom nationwide that is bringing down costs for families and businesses, improving energy reliability, and creating employment and growth in both red and blue parts of the country. That’s why outside of Washington, states, cities, governments, citizens, nonprofits, and companies across the board are committed to working together for an equitable clean energy future that brings prosperity to all. Minister of Energy and Technology, Andrew Parsons, ignited the third day of the Energy NL 2024 Conference with a dynamic keynote address, emphasizing several critical points: Parsons invited global investors to explore Newfoundland and Labrador's burgeoning energy sector, highlighting the new Hydrogen Action Plan focused on Renewable Green Hydrogen production as a major initiative. He praised the press for their outstanding coverage of the event. Emphasizing the necessity of global promotion, Parsons stated that travel is essential for showcasing the province's strengths in oil and gas, hydrogen, biotech, and more. He declared, "When it comes to energy, we are all in. We are investing in tech and innovation, supporting small startups to develop new solutions for green energy." Looking ahead, Parsons announced the opening of a $10 million innovation center to support technology and business in the province. Additionally, 11 projects have been approved, totaling $28.2 million for commercial projects. The Green Transition Fund has opened its second round of funding, with a deadline of July 12, 2024, targeting solutions for the green energy revolution. Parsons highlighted the province's significant opportunities in offshore Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) as part of the climate change solution. Reflecting on the nature of innovation and the drive required to be a game-changer, the Minister cited Steve Jobs, emphasizing the importance of pushing the envelope to achieve significant progress. He candidly remarked, "Don't be afraid to be a dick" as a necessary approach to getting things done. Known as the "People's Minister," Parsons recently shaved his head for Shave For The Brave, supporting cancer awareness and contribution. Energy transitions impact communities around the world unequally both in terms of the challenges and the solutions they necessitate. There is no universal, one-size-fits all approach or roadmap that can therefore be implemented over the entire world. Instead, energy transitions are a series of multiple pathways. The end destination may be the same for all of us, but the routes we take to get there vary. Our World Energy Scenario foundations provide an inclusive and strategic framework that enables big-picture thinking and decision making under deep uncertainty, enabling leaders to see through the many potential pathways with a neutral fact-based tool to measure the potential impact of their choices in the future. 🔋 Kudos to Alternative Energy Materials for securing a $200,000 award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), SC Chicago Service Center. Their project aims to enhance the durability of vanadia and yttria co-doped zirconia electrodes, a key component in energy storage solutions. This could lead to more efficient and longer-lasting energy systems. 🌱 This initiative is part of the Small Business Innovation Research program, fostering innovation in energy technology.
