From The Archives' a monthly series that takes us back in time to see how far we've come! This month takes us back to 2016, when the Beaver Valley Power Station received new steam generators. The initial plan was to replace the Beaver Valley Steam generators. However, shortly after their arrival it became evident that the current steam generators were still running effectively. The construction of these generators was a global effort, with different parts coming from Japan, Spain, Sweden, and a few others. They were brought in via boat from the Atlantic Ocean, up the Mississippi to the Ohio River and finally to Beaver Valley. From there it took a transporter to get them from water to the designated storage area.

Not really a milestone, but a staggering statistic: Bruce Power, the most productive thermal power plant on earth, has now produced, as of the end of 2023, 1,564.6TWh of electricity. It was the first plant to hit 1PWh, ahead of Gravelines in France, and once uprated to over 7,000MW, will be even more productive, not to mention the potential addition of up to 4,800MW of capacity at Bruce C, pushing it over 11,000MW nameplate, making it the largest thermal plant ever constructed.

Species of connection transformer The standard method for marking three phase transformer windings is to label the three primary windings with capital (upper case) letters A, B and C, used to represent the three individual phases of RED, YELLOW and BLUE. The secondary windings are labelled with small (lower case) letters a, b and c. Each winding has two ends normally labelled 1 and 2 so that, for example, the second winding of the primary has ends which will be labelled B1 and B2, while the third winding of the secondary will be labelled c1 and c2 as shown.

3. Bladeless Wind Power: Windstalk: Within each hollow pole is a stack of piezoelectric ceramic discs. Between the ceramic disks are electrodes. Every other electrode is connected to each other by a cable that reaches from top to bottom of each pole. One cable connects the even electrodes, and another cable connects the odd ones. When the wind sways the poles, the stack of piezoelectric disks is forced into compression, thus generating a current through the electrodes.
