This also builds on the thousands of chargepoints that have been delivered, and are still to be delivered, through another programme that Energy Saving Trust administers; the On-street Residential Chargepoints Scheme (ORCS). I'm excited about this - the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) to enhance our electricity grid during emergencies! A recent Australian trial showcased how EVs could act as a lifeline for the grid. In a world-first trial, EVs promptly discharged their batteries during a network failure caused by storms that left half a million homes without power.
