The pathways to net-zero emissions by 2050 will require a wide effort from society for a long time. Decarbonization of humans’s activities will require at least 2–6 gigatons of CO2 captured and stored annually by 2050; to achieve the necessary 1 gigatons of capacity by 2030, annual growth rates of 20–30% are required. Process improvements for new VCM facilities must be in the conceptual design stages, now. Process electrification, increased energy efficiency, large-scale facilities, PVC production industrial chain framework, catalyst improvements, and others are needed for the PVC process chain. In the article, I share some concepts for the future´s of VCM process.
