You may be interested in the origin of this document. Over several INCOSE International meetings, INCOSE workshops, chapter meetings, and related conferences and meetings I asked modeling experts and tool vendors what they thought "Model Management" meant and I got many replies that were parts and pieces. In working with acquirers on a few RFPs I worked with acquirers to describe what they needed the developing contractors to do and they explained that contractors provide needed models, integrate disparate models, and manage the collection of models. In reviewing and rating bidder proposals we constantly found bits and pieces of managing collections of models but always with serious deficiencies. Hence the idea for this guide. One to at least define what Portfolio Model Management is, use cases, and tasks. It provides a reference for acquirers and developers. It is a life cycle document to cover the enduring life of a portfolio as models are invested in, developed, used, integrated, changed, and retired.
