A groundbreaking #CarbonCapture and storage project is underway, set to capture over one billion metric tons of #CarbonDioxide from industrial emitters in #Texas and #Louisiana Gulf coasts. This captured CO2 will be transported to near-shore Miocene-age reservoirs covering a massive area of over 140,000 acres. The annual CO2 injection rate is estimated to be about 5-20MMtpa (million metric tonnes per annum), marking a significant step towards a #greener, more #sustainable future. SolarDuck and RWE's collaborative effort, the #Merganser project, introduces an innovative #offshore #floatingsolar pilot with a capacity of 520 kWp. This pioneering solution features six interconnected platforms designed to withstand challenging offshore conditions, including high waves, strong winds, and corrosive environments. Certified by Bureau Veritas Group, the design can endure maximum wave heights of 11.6 meters at a water depth of 21.5 meters in the North Sea Farmers test site off the coast of The Hague, #Netherlands. The #project aims to evaluate the technology's performance and resilience in a practical operational environment, covering aspects such as #floating structure, mooring system, stability analysis, materials, and electrical safety systems. We've successfully completed the front-end engineering design stage for key onshore elements of the pioneering East Coast Cluster (ECC) – Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) and the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) – in the industrial heartland of Teesside. NZT Power, a joint venture between bp and Equinor, aims to be the world’s first commercial scale gas-fired power station with carbon capture technology and could generate up to 860 megawatts of low carbon power – equivalent to the electricity requirements of around 1.3 million UK homes. The NEP – a joint venture between bp, Equinor, and TotalEnergies - is the CO2 transportation and storage provider for the East Coast Cluster. ✅ We've designed a a CO2 gathering network that is the first in the world to be a wholly above-ground ✅ The scheme will transport around 4m tonnes of CO2 a year to secure offshore storage sites in the North Sea ✅ With partners px Group, we created a new geographic information system to act as a single source of truth Laura Hughes, #energy sector director at Costain, said: “This is an exciting and complex project and one that will leave an enormous legacy for the region. KBR Signs Contract with Fortescue for Green Ammonia Technology in Norway KBR , a global leader in engineering and technology solutions, has announced a significant contract signing with Fortescue for the provision of its green ammonia technology, K-GreeN®, as part of the Holmaneset green energy project in Norway. Under the agreement, KBR will supply its green ammonia technology for the construction of a 675 metric tonnes per day grassroots green ammonia plant in Norway. The scope of the contract includes technology licensing, proprietary engineering design, and front-end engineering design (FEED) support services.
