As a Chicago-based legal recruiter (and a former Chicago-based litigator), I would be remiss to not provide a quick⚡mid-year market update⚡for all my #Chicago lawyers out there! So what’s been going on? 🤔 Demand for legal talent in the Chicago lateral market held steady between the first half of last year and the first half of this year (with a very slight uptick this year). The three hottest practice areas in Q1/Q2 of 2023 and 2024 remained litigation, corporate, and IP, but demand for insurance practitioners skyrocketed in the first half of this year, while we also saw a slight uptick in demand for data privacy attorneys. As for what seems to be trending moving into Q3, my team and I are seeing increased demand for associates in the corporate, trusts & estates, and labor & employment practice groups.
