As we wrap up another amazing year of growth at Cisco ThousandEyes, I’m beyond proud of everything the Technical Recruiting team accomplished together. With hard work, teamwork, a lot of dedication, and a little bit of humor, we’ve hit it out of the park. 🔹 Big Wins: We were able to improve our offer acceptance rate from 81% to 88% and doubled our hiring output YoY in the 2nd half. 🔹 Cool Projects: We were able to implement a new interview assessment tool, attend many amazing recruiting events, and drastically improve our Talent Brand. 🔹 Learning and Growing: Invested in ourselves with training and development, making us even stronger. 🔹 Happy Technical Teams: We continued building great relationships and helped our hiring teams smash their hiring goals. 🔹 Team Spirit: Our team collaboration has been off the charts, including our semi-formal virtual team celebration to end FY24! Wondering how to get into tech? Listen to this advice from Kforce Inc recruiters Gavin Allyn & Lauren (Long) Plinski! Learn what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for and what they might not be looking at and dial your profile and resume!

I attended this presentation live and found that the insights from these two recruiters were incredibly helpful. Not only that, but both Lauren and Gavin met with me individually to answer my nitty-gritty questions. Here are some takeaways: ❓ No one reads the third page, but maybe the ATS does. Is it actively harmful to my application to bleed a little bit into page three? 💡 Lauren: Keep it to two pages, even if you have to reduce the spacing to make it more compact. ❓ Should I spend the time to personalize my cover letter for each job? 💡 Gavin: You can write a cover letter but it's rarely read. Sending a follow-up email is much more effective. ❓ After I apply, should I follow up with both a LinkedIn connection request and an email? Should I message multiple people at the company? If so, whom should I target? 💡Lauren: Send a LinkedIn connection request to the recruiter and hiring manager. In the note, say, "I just applied to X, I'm very interested, I think I'm a match because Y [make this super short], can I send you an resume?" 💡 Gavin: Message the recruiter and if you're really interested, email or call the hiring manager. Don't pester them; further follow-ups should be with the recruiter. I am so grateful that Lauren and Gavin made time for me. Correct any inaccuracies, please!
