NYC assessments are out. If they make no sense they are not supposed to, it is just a budgetary issue not a real estate value issues. If you are filing your NYC TC-201 (certiorari) particularly for office space, make sure you use an accountant that understand the steaks. Exciting news! I'm thrilled to share my latest paper, which will be published in the Corporate Real Estate Journal by Henry Stewart Publicatons in London later this spring. The pandemic has left a long wake of changes in how we use corporate real estate. While many have predicted the decline of the central office, the long-term future of office space is still uncertain. But, by peeling back the onion, my paper reveals some fascinating insights pointing to a new kind of office equilibrium. In the meantime, there will be impacts on several associated areas, including property tax. A mounting standoff between large portfolio owners and big cities who rely on property tax revenue is simmering. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a quick resolution to this complex issue…in the short term at least.
