Launched on October 2, 2014, by the Government of India, SBM-U aims to make urban India clean and free of open defecation, focusing on sanitation, waste management, and overall cleanliness to promote a healthier and more sustainable environment. The primary objectives of SBM-U are eliminating open defecation, ensuring every household has access to sanitation facilities, implementing efficient solid waste management practices, creating awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among citizens, and promoting sustainable and environment-friendly sanitation technologies.
Key features of SBM-U include the construction of individual, community, and public toilets, comprehensive solid waste management, nationwide public awareness campaigns, incentives for cities through initiatives like Swachh Survekshan, and partnerships with various stakeholders.
SBM-U's implications for India's development are profound: it improves public health by reducing water-borne diseases, promotes environmental sustainability through better waste management, boosts economic benefits by attracting tourism and investment, and ensures social equity by providing sanitation facilities for all, particularly marginalized communities.

Some projects make you realize that with simple data points, we can address some of the most fundamental challenges of human existence. Our latest project along with the support of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is a prime example of this principle in action.
This project tracks the journey of water in a village, from a distant borewell in the riverbed, through to an overhead tank, and finally to a school and health center located a kilometer apart.
The insights gained from this continuous data flow & water quality are invaluable, ensuring efficient water management and reliable supply to critical community infrastructure.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to leverage technology for sustainable development. 🌱

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟
We are thrilled to announce that Greenvironment has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a digitized water supply distribution network in Vallipuram Village, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. This project, funded by Aquamap IIT Madras, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing rural water supply and public health management.
The first package of this impactful project includes a comprehensive system for monitoring water quality and quantity. From a distant borewell, the water is pumped into an overhead tank and then efficiently distributed to a local school and health center. This initiative not only ensures a reliable supply of clean water but also underscores our dedication to improving community health and well-being.
This project exemplifies our mission to leverage advanced technology for sustainable solutions in rural areas. We are proud to contribute to the nation’s efforts in enhancing public health and water management.
Thank you to Aquamap IIT Madras for their support and partnership. Together, we are making a meaningful difference!
