The £6.1bn mega tunnel stretching 11 miles that will transform Europe Both #trains and cars will be able to use the underwater link, which will sit in a trench at the bottom of the Baltic Sea at a depth of up to 130 feet. The #construction of the world's longest immersed #tunnel is set to cut journey times and transform travel between central #Europe and #Scandinavia. An 11-mile-long concrete reinforced tube tunnel will connect the islands of Lolland in #Denmark and Fehmarn in #Germany. The #Fehmarnbelttunnel is projected to cost a staggering £6.1 billion and is scheduled to be completed in 2029. https://lnkd.in/eHps85UF

#Tunneling | Do you know what segments are and what's their function inside the Mont Cenis base tunnel? Segments are made of concrete and used for lining the tunnels excavated with TBM. For the cross-border section of the new #LyonTurin railway line, they are produced in special sites using aggregates obtained from the excavation of the tunnel.
