#Meta has intensified its battle in the AI arena by releasing #Llama3 this week. Additionally, they unveiled a real-time image generator that updates pictures as users type prompts. This move aims to catch up with generative AI leader #OpenAI. The models will integrate into Meta AI, positioned as the most sophisticated free-to-use AI assistant across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Llama 3, equipped with new coding capabilities, currently outputs text, but future versions will handle multimodal tasks, generating both text and images. Meta also partnered with #Google for real-time search results in the assistant’s responses. The update expands Meta AI to several international markets, emphasizing privacy-conscious (something to watch for) approaches in Europe for the time being. Will be watching how this develops to different parts of the globe as well and how it will be positioned with the #AI drives in #KSA & the #UAE #Meta #OpenAI #Artificialintelligence

OpenAI and Meta are on the verge of releasing next versions of their AI models that will supposedly be capable of reasoning and planning, the Financial Times reports. But, as with any hype coming out of big tech, take it all with a grain of salt. For one thing, there's no exact timeline for a rollout. Per the report, OpenAI has indicated that its next AI model, which will likely be called GPT-5, is coming "soon." Meta, meanwhile, said it's expecting to release its Llama 3 model in the coming weeks. "We are hard at work in figuring out how to get these models not just to talk, but actually to reason, to plan... to have memory," Joelle Pineau, Meta's vice president of AI research, told the FT. If either party's claims are to be believed — a big if, considering how superficial they sound — both models could mark a major step towards achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), an eagerly-fantasized breakthrough that could see AI models possessing human-like or even superhuman cognition. Pinky Promise Brad Lightcap, the chief operating officer at OpenAI, told the FT that "we're going to start to see AI that can take on more complex tasks in a more sophisticated way." "I think we're just starting to scratch the surface on the ability that these models have to reason," he …

https://lnkd.in/gdjMekBu Key open-source win for Meta with Llama 3.1 enabling/launching 405B parameter model... Llama 3.1 parity to winning across most AI benchmarks over Google/OpenAI (reasoning, knowledge, solver... OpenAI is actually closed sourced model ;) ) and one key aspect is the 128,000 token context length (the amount of text the LLM can remember). Excited to give this one a run for its money, and will soon be doing an energy analysis to determine how much power it took to train the model.. Will post when I get the training token count :). #iworkfordell, #ai, #cooling, #generativeai, #power.
