Vietnam is one of the few markets in the world uses both solar calendar (based on Earth’s rotation around the sun in a year) and lunar calendar (based on the moon’s phases), so we celebrate two occasions of new year every year. But we don’t just celebrate lunar calendar only for the chance to have two celebrations, most Vietnamese business owners and leaders still use lunar calendar as an inseparable measure of timing.
While we ingtegrate deeper with international markets and businesses, and solar calendar is used in our daily work and activities, important matters such as inaugurations, signing contracts, joining dates, and discussion openings etc are still being timed in alignment with lunar calendar.
Having another new year occasion gives us another chance to encounter and re-enforce the spirit of renewal. More than ever, we are very much ready to kick-start the year of the Dragon “Giáp Thìn” with our clients, partners, and colleagues!
Fun guess: Can you spot at least 3 dragons in this photo? :)
Meet Ravit Sachasiri, our Business Development Director for the Asia Pacific Region! Ravit was born in Bangkok, spent almost 15 years in India, and now lives in Kiruna in Sweden 🏔️
"I have always had a passion for space as it is deeply linked with my ever-questioning nature. Since I was child, I was fascinated with Space, Astronomy with Physics being my favorite subject. I ask questions such as “Why”, “Why not” and a lot of “What if”. I used to read fiction and non-fiction books on Space and time and was always fascinated by the possibilities and the unknown.
I have really enjoyed living in Kiruna in the past three year and would really like to metamorphosize myself from being a city-man to someone living with nature. I have never hiked or skied or skated when I used to live in Bangkok and I would really want to build a habit to do these activities on a regular basis in Kiruna. I aspire to have a nice cabin by the lake with a snowmobile where I can visit in Summer and Winter to just be with nature up here in Kiruna."
When talking about living your dreams and what he would tell others, he says:
"I would recommend anyone with any passion to always work towards their dream. Just like any other dream, working with Space do requires efforts to be put forth towards achieving the dream. Luckily for us, working with space can range from being an Astronaut to being a software developer to control spacecraft to theoretical physicist studying the black hole or the big bang to radio communication engineer providing telecommunication support. The space domain is so vast and now so accessible, even Space Art project are now being envisioned with planned artificial meteorite in the evening sky." 🌌

Philippines: Gateway to the Stars? The Dreams and Dilemmas of Building a Spaceport
The lure of space has always captivated humanity, and the Philippines is no exception. With its archipelago nature offering unique launch trajectories and its geographical proximity to the equator, the nation holds immense potential as a spacefaring hub. Yet, despite the tantalizing possibilities, the dream of a Filipino spaceport faces a harsh reality: the immense difficulty of transforming plans into infrastructure.
A. The Necessity Amidst Challenges:
A spaceport in the Philippines would offer a multitude of benefits. Beyond national pride, it could bolster scientific research, attract international collaboration, and stimulate technological advancement. It could become a gateway for satellite launches, space tourism, and even future interplanetary ventures. For a developing nation like the Philippines, the economic and technological spillover effects could be transformative.
However, the path to this celestial dream is riddled with challenges. Building a spaceport requires colossal financial requirements, a pool of highly specialized talent, and robust technological infrastructure. The Philippines currently lacks many of these crucial elements.
B. OrbitX: Taking the First Steps:
Despite the hurdles, Filipino ingenuity is forging a path forward. Teams like OrbitX are making an effort, aiming to establish a Filipino spaceport dubbed as "MalayaLand". Their vision envisions modest facilities in both Mindanao and Luzon, starting with test and satellite launch capabilities and gradually scaling up. Yet, even these initial ambitions face immense hurdles.
Finding the right location is a delicate dance, balancing ideal launch conditions with environmental considerations and social impact. Securing funding is a constant chase due to high-risk ventures like space exploration. Perhaps the most formidable obstacle is attracting and retaining the necessary talent. The Philippines currently lacks a critical mass of engineers, scientists, and technicians with expertise in aerospace technology.
C. Navigating the Labyrinth:
Beyond technical and resource challenges, navigating the political landscape proves another hurdle. Securing permits and licenses requires navigating a complex web of regulations and approvals. Building public awareness and securing buy-in from the local communities surrounding potential spaceport sites is also crucial.
Despite the roadblocks, the spirit of Filipino innovation remains undimmed. OrbitX actively partners with organizations to nurture a future generation of spacefarers. They collaborate with international firms, tapping into global expertise and technology. They participate in international space conferences, raising the Philippines' profile in the global space community. (continue reading)

The moon landing is a shining example of how collaboration transcends sectors and geography, despite our differences and perceived barriers. A powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite towards a shared goal. 🌕🚀 #MoonLanding#Collaboration#Unity#collaborationmodels#collectiveaction
Last week's commercial moon landing 🚀 marked a monumental milestone in space exploration, echoing the collaborative spirit of the historic Apollo missions. At Weeyacom, we're inspired by this legacy of innovation and teamwork 🤝. Celebrating this new chapter, we recognize the blend of public-private partnerships that made it possible, showcasing a future where space is more accessible and sustainable 🌌. Driven by the same pioneering spirit, Weeyacom is committed to pushing boundaries through collaboration, aiming to achieve groundbreaking advancements for humanity 🌍. As we applaud this latest achievement, we're reminded of the power of working together to reach new heights, inspired by the past and excited for the future's possibilities. #Collaboration#Innovation#Teamwork#MoonLanding#FutureIsNow 🌕✨
Since we started Skynopy, we constantly asked ourselves how we can improve things: services 📡 , products 📻 , processes 🔄 ... and (why not), social events ? 🍸
👨🚀 👩🚀 Next week, 2000 space industry people are gathering in Paris for #WSBW24 organised by Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners) (congratulations to Emeline Bardoux and her team 💪 )
🇫🇷 What could Skynopy offer to them as a true Parisian experience, being in our hometown, that would be different from standard reception with standard cocktails in standard places ?
🎳 We decided to gather people around a very unique Parisian square (kept secret for now) and around a typical French game: PETANQUE
💥 That is already quite original, is that all ? No
We also thought it would make this gathering special if some inspiring Space related VIP could attend and participate:
🌟 Etienne KLEIN – French physicist and philosopher
Not to be too dramatic but imagine the conversations you could have with someone who holds the mysteries of space and time in the palm of their hand 🧠🌌
🌟 Michel Tognini – French astronaut and former head of the European Astronaut Center
We may not be playing pétanque in space (yet 😉), but you can still toss a few with someone who’s been there! 👩🚀✨
⏳ Spots have already filled so fast! Don’t miss your chance to be part of this special evening. Comment below to RSVP and secure one of the last remaining tickets 👇.
At Skynopy, we believe that our role is to connect 📶
