National Grid is investing £90 million to expedite the upgrade of an 82km overhead power line from Bramley to Melksham, addressing electricity network bottlenecks in South West England and Wales. The engineering works will commence in January 2024, involving the replacement of conductors with higher-temperature cables across 229 pylons. This upgrade, boosting capacity by approximately 3000MVA, aims to enhance electricity flow between pylons, removing constraints for 175 clean energy projects previously set for connections in 2028 and beyond. National Grid emphasises the project's role in accelerating clean energy connections and ensuring a future-ready grid. #RenewableEnergy #SustainableFuture #solarenergy #solarpower #renewables #renewableenergy #investment #cleanenergy #cleanelectricity #greenenergy #greenpower #innovation #greeneconomy #greenbusiness #greenfuture #decarbonisation #netzero #change #batterystorage #batterytechnology #electricity #gridmodernisation
