Here are some of our key initiatives this year: Support for the Tu + Yo Foundation: Our funding enables hybrid classes in underserved communities, providing essential staff and supplies to expand access to STEM learning. Partnership with Trust in Education: We are supporting the development of computer libraries for girls in Afghanistan, who are denied education beyond 6th grade. This partnership offers critical resources for learning in regions where traditional schooling is restricted. Sponsorship of Wolfpack Robotics 3859: Through this sponsorship, students gain hands-on experience competing in robotics challenges, fostering early interest and skills in STEM fields. Our mission is to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to drive the solar energy transition. 💡 RS Components' Steven McIntyre explains how a rocket car challenge is helping to drive interest in STEM amongst secondary school pupils. "There’s no doubt inspiring school children in the world of STEM, as early on as possible, to drive interest in careers in key skills shortage areas like engineering, is of paramount importance," writes McIntyre. "While navigating the traditional channels of government and pushing for sweeping educational reform is a mammoth task beyond the capabilities or capacity of any single organisation, there are ways to work towards the cause. "These can be individual efforts or collaborative ones, with varying outcome levels. But one thing is for sure: no effort is too small. Each and every way any organisation can effect a positive awareness around STEM in school children is another brushstroke in the bigger picture. "To this end, RS became a partner for the relaunch of The Learning Partnership's rocket car challenge ‘Race to the Line’, which took part over the 2023/2024 academic year. It aims to modernise STEM education across schools, as an integrated part of core curriculum delivery." Tri-State STEM+ Conference 2024: Empowering Educators to Shape the Future On October 10, the University of Cincinnati hosted the 12th annual Tri-State STEM+ Conference, uniting over 200 educators from across the region. Presented in partnership with UC’s Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative and NKU's CINSAM, the event focused on equipping P-12 educators with tools to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing, environmental science, health care, and IT. New this year were panel discussions featuring industry experts addressing workforce needs and opportunities for students and teachers.
