Over the past two days I had the pleasure of attending the Women in Energy & Renewables Summit with my fellow #AusNet and #Mondo colleagues both from within my business unit and from adjacent teams. We heard from inspirational & industry-leading women about the challenges we face as an industry collective, and the barriers we must continue to remove, particularly for women, to ensure we unlock the diverse talent pools needed to fulfil the substantive jobs required to drive at pace, the #energytransition. To support the transition we need 4x more consumer driven renewables (think solar & EV) feeding into the network, and 3x the current Commercial & Industrial scaled generation (i.e solar/wind/hydro), but without urgently addressing the build out of our Transmission and Distribution networks we will fall short of our targets. Social license was a key theme, and the importance of community engagement. So what does this all mean in terms of careers and opportunities? Yes, Engineers are a given, but there is room for everyone on this renewable journey, from lawyers, marketers, artists and scientists, facilitators and project managers, educators and trainers, if we nail diversity and inclusion EVERYONE can participate in this exciting transition. #WomenInEnergy #EnergyAndRenewables
Some of our AusNet women were lucky enough to attend the inaugural Women in Energy & Renewables Summit in Sydney this week. They had some great conversations around energy demand, capacity forecast and strategies to advance the #energytransition. Yet in 2024 we're still having conversations about driving more #diversity, #equity and #inclusion in our industry. It was a great opportunity to gather with other women across energy and the #renewables sector to learn from the best and drive change. Looking forward to this becoming a regular fixture on the event calendar! Ivy Lun Ana Ruiz Juinn Siew Tao Priya V. Thanks, Ines Monroy 🌿 for your excellent article on our PV Magazine Series highlighting issues we need to address to truly achieve an inclusive industry where we are all set for success to contribute to this challenging energy transition. #womeninsolareurope #weshintogether #womenempowerment #inclusionstartswithme #InvestInWomen
This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) highlights Inés Monroy 🌿, founder of licenciasocial.energy, for her leadership and advocacy in the solar PV sector. Inés shares her experiences overcoming the 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝗽: "When I’ve adopted a neutral, professional tone to convey directives or focus on problem-solving, I’ve been met with comments suggesting that my approach was ‘bossy’ or ‘too harsh.’" Thank you, Inés, for inspiring us with your resilience and for championing equity and inclusion in renewable energy. 📊 Read more: https://lnkd.in/d6ZGzCnC #WomenInSolar #RenewableEnergy #DiversityAndInclusion #pvmagazine

Interesting article by WiSEu Network that highlights the limited representation of women in the solar sector and the biases that women who are part of the sector face. It would be amazing to see more women and individuals of other non-represented genders/diverse backgrounds speaking on panels at renewable energy conferences and, perhaps more importantly, having a seat at decision-making tables in renewable energy companies. #RepresentationMatters #WomenInSolar #WomenInRenewables

Not yet enough women on the room where solar energy is discussed and decisions are made. Listen to these two ladies who are making great contributions and have important reflections to make. Women in the solar sector in my network, maybe time to joint WiSEu Network, Nordic Energy Equality Network (NEEN) or other initiatives that promote equality and a better solar sector?

From policy to practice: aligning governments, industry, professional networks to champion DEI: In a new article for pv magazine, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu) explains why the renewable energy industry should finally embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI). "At a micro level, networks like Women in Solar Europe are critical to creating the environments of belonging, psychological safety, and support that individuals need to thrive and contribute to the energy transition," says Carmen Madrid, founder of the WiSEu Network. #RenewableEnergy #Photovoltaic #Technology

When we look back at the stories of women who shaped and transformed the renewable energy sector, we need to go a long way back to the mid-19th century. The world was being reshaped by the impact of industrial revolution and women’s rights were not in very good shape in those times... This Earth Day, we wanted to highlight our women-led, green energy vision centres - a sustainable solution! In many remote communities, unreliable electricity and daily power outages are a big problem. That’s why many of our new vision centres rely on solar energy to power energy-efficient equipment and technology. This renewable energy option eliminates a vision centre’s dependence on unstable power grids and provides a much greener and cheaper alternative to the environmentally harmful diesel generators commonly used for back-up power in these areas. The addition of solar power adds yet another layer of innovation and cost savings to the vision centre model. It addresses one of the key challenges of providing quality eye care in remote areas and helps ensure families can get the best care possible, even when there’s no power. https://lnkd.in/gUJiQvsW
