A question we get a lot: Would you consider looking at deals outside of Hudson County, where we are currently operating? My answer usually starts with a hard no (for now). When I first started talking to agents, brokers and other investors we always tried to communicate that we did a little bit of everything and did it in a lot of different places. We wanted to sound like we had a lot going on and then one day I spoke to an experienced broker who changed the game for me. He said "you know Jason it sounds great, seems like you guys have a lot going on but from my experience working in real estate, the most successful people/companies focus on 1 thing and they do that 1 thing REALLY REALLY well." Point is, don't try to be everything in the beginning. Focus on one market, 1 or 2 types of projects and build your team around that for multiple years. At this current time, the path has never been clearer for us to achieve the life we want. We still have a lot of work to put in but knowing you have all the pieces in place makes the game a bit more fun! If you had a similar journey, feel free to chime in!

One of the things I love most about this business is that, with the right training, new agents have a real chance to "get in the chips" early in their careers. Over the past year, we’ve hired several new agents who have consistently reached out to property owners, many of whom senior brokers initially thought weren’t active. These new agents have turned those relationships into leads and, in some cases, listings or contracts. Being out there and putting in the work is crucial. A hungry new agent will outpace a veteran simply by staying persistent. Commercial property agents. Love, hate or tolerate us. We play an important role in the property sector. It's been quite challenging and exhausting at times getting a couple deals across the line in recent months (still not there yet). My recent experience has inspired this post and to ask: What personal qualities and attributes should a commercial property agent ideally possess? In no particular order, I believe an agent should be/have: 1. Driven. 2. Communicative. 3. Proactive. 4. Personable. 5. Problem solvers. 6. Great negotiators. 7. Relationships builders. 8. Resilient. 9. Experience. 10. Integrity. 11. Good at sales.
