It is curious to me that HR and other departments such as marketing do not consider using cinemas as venues for their events, product launches, presentations, or town halls instead of hotels. Hosting an event in a hotel can be significantly more expensive than utilizing a cinema, which offers trained personnel for food service, traffic control, and projection. A recent analysis I conducted revealed that booking a conference room in a hotel for 2-3 hours can cost three times more than renting a cinema screen for an entire day, which also provides a larger capacity. Imagine you're an 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 tasked with setting prices for a concert a few months away. In my previous post, I discussed variable pricing and price differentiation in the context of theater. These practices require careful setting of prices based on accurate demand predictions, since prices are fixed once tickets go on sale. This approach carries 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 for live entertainment events, especially when ticket prices are determined months in advance. Moreover, variable pricing and price differentiation involve numerous manual processes, including decisions on sale initiation, duration, stock quantities for sale at reduced or elevated prices, discount percentages, and strategies for fairly raising prices without alienating customers. 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, as compared to variable pricing, can handle the continuous range of time and location dimensions: it includes not just real-time changes in prices, but may mean different prices for each seat, according to the changing balance of supply and demand. In addition, dynamic pricing offers several advantages over variable pricing: - 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: It reduces the need for manual intervention. Once initial parameters like minimum and maximum prices are set, prices adjust automatically, streamlining the pricing strategy. - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Equipped with feedback loops, dynamic pricing systems continuously monitor factors affecting prices, enabling real-time adjustments based on demand and supply changes. - 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰: These solutions support various pricing logics tailored to specific goals, allowing for swift adaptation to changing circumstances, such as ticket inventory fluctuations. When choosing an event venue, don't overlook sound quality. How everything sounds in the space is crucial, and that's where your DJ's expertise comes in. Experienced DJs know that less can be more. To achieve even sound distribution at a lower volume, multiple perimeter speakers spaced around the room work best. Relying on just two speakers at one end of a long room often means cranking up the volume, causing issues for attendees and potentially damaging the speakers. For irregularly shaped rooms, sound doesn't always travel consistently. Adding extra speakers can ensure even distribution throughout the space. My overwhelming observation of today’s Oasis on-sale is the gap in thinking between venues and promoters. In venue world, we obsess about delivering seamless, high quality customer experience at every single touch point. Almost certainly the most important touchpoint for customers is the point of ticket purchase. Today, many hundreds of thousands of people spent hours staring at computer or phone screens hoping they might be lucky. Some were, some weren’t. Either way everyone experienced a pretty terrible customer experience. Surely, as most major sporting events have done, it’s time to move massive concert and festival on-sales to a ballot format. Better customer experience. Way more labour and cost effective for promoters and ticketing companies. Lets put the fans first.
