Founder & Host of Raising Consciousness | Exploring the human experience and sharing what I learn along the way | Follow for insights on human health, life purpose, human behaviour and spirituality.
So you’re telling me that all of the food brands we’ve been marketed into knowing and loving are owned by 10 companies. Hmm… 🤔 I’m not against entrepreneurship or capitalism, I’m building my own business and have been in the field of entrepreneurship all of my twenties. In fact, I want EVERYONE to build their own thing (that’s another story) 👀 However, something doesn’t sit quite right with me here… Especially seeing none of these companies do anything meaningful to extend and elevate human health and in fact, all of their food brands contribute to the decline of human health and increase of chronic diseases like obesity. So what’s the solution? → Own our own choices. → Get educated. → Shop local. Shop consciously. And when you do shop further afield choose brands that have no nasties in their products such as ↓ Plenish WellEasy Hunter & Gather 8 Foods Riverford Organic Farmers Hu Beekeeper's Naturals Bio&Me I B Corp #raisingconsciousness #food #foodanddrink #foodindustry

Our CEO and Founder Phil Meldrum recently sat down with his alma mater UNH to talk about sustainability, the mission/purpose of FOODMatch and Divina as well as some the inspirations that sparked the seeds for our start in 1996. “Through food, you can feel connected to a tradition of community and place. In a world that changes so quickly, it’s nice to be connected to things that are a true tradition.” Read on to learn more. #entrepreneurship #founderstories #mediterraneanfood #olives #sustainability

We explore about 🌟 Business Insights with Ray: Maximizing Profits by Selling Dry Foods in Rural Areas 🌟 Hello, business enthusiasts! Welcome back to another edition of Business Insights with Ray. Today, we're diving into a profitable venture for civil servants in rural areas—selling dry foods like fish, kapenta, and dry veggies. Living in rural areas presents unique opportunities. With the increasing demand for nutritious and shelf-stable foods, civil servants can capitalize on this by selling dry foods. Here's how: 1. Understand Your Market: Know the preferences and buying habits of your local community. Dry foods are often a staple in rural diets, making them a high-demand product. 2. Source Quality Products: Ensure you are sourcing the best quality dry fish, kapenta, and vegetables. High-quality products will attract repeat customers and build a strong reputation. 3. Leverage Local Networks: Use your position as a civil servant to build trust and credibility. Leverage your local connections to market your products effectively. 4. Pricing Strategy: Set competitive prices that are affordable for your community while ensuring you make a profit. Consider offering bundle deals to encourage bulk purchases. 5. Marketing and Visibility: Utilize local markets, social media, and word-of-mouth to promote your products. Highlight the benefits of dry foods, such as their long shelf life and nutritional value. 6. Diversify Your Offerings: Besides selling dry fish and veggies, consider adding other dry foods like beans, lentils, and grains to cater to a wider audience. 7. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to build loyalty. Listen to feedback and continuously improve your offerings. By focusing on these strategies, civil servants in rural areas can create a profitable side hustle while providing valuable food resources to their communities.Stay tuned for more insights next week! #BusinessInsightsWithRay #Entrepreneurship #SmallBusiness #RuralBusiness #DryFoods #SideHustle #CivilServants

According to Peter Kilby (1976), defining entrepreneurship is like hunting the Heffalump in “Winnie the Pooh”. Everybody agrees that like the Heffalump, the entrepreneur is a “large and very important animal” but all who claim to have seen him “disagree on his particularities”. While there may be no such thing as a stereotypical entrepreneur, the research literature does suggest that he/she is “smart, innovative and driven”. Certainly we need such people if we are going to change the world not just the way we eat. The world is very different from what it was a century or more ago and the problems it is facing are very different from those encountered in the last quarter of the 20th century even. We are facing a sustainability crisis of global proportions, a crisis of our own making through our pursuit of wealth and the drive to “make as much money as possible” (Friedman 1970). To save the planet and its inhabitants change is needed. Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs can facilitate such a change BUT first they need to recognise that business needs not just to make as much money as possible but to “be embedded in ethical custom” with profit, planet and people in harmony with each other. As the proverb says, and the case of Green Chef demonstrates, “mighty oak trees from tiny acorns grow”. #Entrepreneurship #Sustainability #Harmony #ICSB #ECSB #ISBE #EEUK #HEInnovate #UN #UNECO #OECD.
