These are the kinds of projects that make it all the long days and early mornings worth it. Bouthillette Parizeau Cleland Jardine Engineering (Now BPA) #ImpactfulEngineering
Today was a very special day. Ten and a half years later we were able to celebrate the opening of Dave’s Dream. The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre had a beautiful ribbon cutting/opening today. Everyone’s word and appreciation of not only the building but what it represents for youth in our community was amazing. I have so much pride in this project, the team we worked with ( Lesley Watson Mike Watson ) our consultant (BPA, CJE, Novatech) amazing clients ( Kevin Crawford and Mike Beauchesne and construction team at Laurin construction. It is bittersweet to see this all wrap up but we can wait for everyone to move in and continue to make a difference. The fundraising campaign “Village of Hope” is still ongoing. Please reach out to Cindy Manor to see how you can help. #dsytc #davesdream #youthtreatmentcentre #community #ottawa #ottawaarchitects #ruralsite #villageofhope #mentalhealthmatters #grandopening Project photos to follow soon. https://lnkd.in/eKj7qX_W

Here at The National Lottery Community Fund Wales / Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol Cymru, we want to build on our support for impactful community led projects. We are looking to make a bigger difference in the years ahead and to be more focused across our four new missions which are supporting communities to come together, be more environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive and enable people to live healthier lives. As set out recently in our new Corporate Plan, we will be applying a sharper focus on tackling inequality meaning we will focus more on the places, people and communities who experience poverty, disadvantage and discrimination in Wales. We will also be supporting environmental action across all our funding and supporting projects to consider the environment even when it isn’t their main focus. With that in mind, we are refreshing our funding offer in Wales to ensure that the grants we give out are matching these priorities. We have already increased the amount of money you can receive through National Lottery Awards for All to £20,000, and we are currently refreshing People and Places too. We have numerous funding streams currently open, and you can stay up to date with all our latest funding news by signing up to our Grantholder Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ewFQy85f Read more about the development in Wales to our funding to support what matters most to communities in this blog: https://lnkd.in/eZSHYh45 https://lnkd.in/eBPtmnka

Award-Winning Strategy Lead for Impact, Fractional Executive & Neuro-Based Executive Coach, Global Speaker, Author | I help business leaders gain clarity on strategy and lead teams with confidence. 📕 Leadership Lessons
2024 theme in the running:
While we all love doors that open for us, few of us look at closing/closed doors with the same perspective. But the truth is doors that close in our lives can be as much or more of a blessing than the open ones. The closed ones often lead to greater opportunity if we only take the time and consider it that way. We need to shift our thinking to consider open and closed doors as opportunity or providence. #grow #expand #dontsuck #changeyourworld

Individual philanthropy is never an alternative to state response. Case in point is the current flood. Individual and community fatigue have clearly set in, but state must continue to respond in full forces following the established protocols and rules utilising the local administration. If there is an issue with capacity, additional investment must be made from state budget to develop that capacity. State must do its job. Philanthropy at best can be an add-on.
