💡📃💡 CCR Final Rule - did you know… 40 CFR § 257.100 Inactive CCR surface impoundments: Applicability Report/Documentation The EPA finalized the changes to the CCR regulations on May 8, 2024, in the Final Rule - Legacy Coal Combustion Residuals Surface Impoundments and CCR Management Units. Changes require applicability reports for all legacy CCR surface impoundments closed before October 19, 2015, that contained “free liquids” on or after that date to be complete by November 8, 2024. The applicability report must include: * Identification information. ~ The name of the legacy CCR surface impoundment; ~ Current owner/operator contact information; ~ Location information including a figure of the facility, the address and latitude/longitude, and where the surface impoundment is located at the facility; and ~ The surface impoundment identification number if one has been assigned by the state. * A description of the current site conditions, including the current use of the inactive facility. * Certification of the Report by the owner or operator or an authorized representative. * The owner or operator must notify the EPA of the establishment of the facility's CCR website.   KEY’s CCR experience can help you achieve Final Rule compliance. #CCR #CCRMU #CoalCombustionResiduals #FinalRule #LegacyRule #CoalAsh #EPA

EPA finalized its technology review of NSPS VVa today and added a new subpart for equipment leaks from SOCMI at NSPS VVb. This new subpart makes some odd choices in my opinion, including defining valve leaks as an instrument reading >100ppm. EPA’s reliance on Method 21 and ratcheting down the leak definition ignores advances in leak detection technologies and equipment designed to prevent leaks. It’s a misstep in my opinion and shows a general lack of ability to really adjust with innovations across the Chem sector. It’s also puzzling how the same EPA office that is pushing the envelope with outside the box programs like alternative test methods for oil and gas can still be stuck on reducing leak definitions under Method 21 elsewhere. What a waste of a technology review here. Cliff notes version of NSPS VVb: Same requirements as NSPS VVa except - (1) gas and light liquid valves have a leak definition of 100 ppm (2) connectors must be monitored annually with a leak definition of 500 ppm (3) capital expenditure takes on the same definition that EPA used in NSPS OOOOa and OOOOb for processing plants (4) calibration and calibration drift procedures were updated the same as in NSPS OOOOb for processing plants (5) electronic reporting requirements were added

Important Information The Gas Safe Register released TB 014B in April, in relation to working within scope of work categories. A Commercial Engineer that is required to work on a Domestic boiler within commercial premises is now required to hold a domestic core or change back to domestic (CCN1/COCDN1) and CENWAT. Historically, where an operative has needed to work on a domestic appliance (e.g. a Domestic CH Boiler) within a Non-Domestic environment, they were permitted to undertake CENWAT with a Non-Domestic core (e.g. COCN1). As of 1st July 2024, this option is no longer available. Operatives who have previously completed a domestic appliance assessment and currently holds a valid certificate, but does not hold a domestic core or changeover, must undertake this If they wish to retain that appliance category. Operatives who do not comply with the requirements and carry out gas work outside the scope of their certification may be subject to a defect notice and/or sanctions by Gas Safe Register.
