New hex chrome rules are coming to California. Worried about how these regulations will affect your water system? Look no further than your homegrown, Hayward, CA-based water innovators. Microvi Biotech Inc. has better treatment technologies. And OndaVia, Inc. has simplified testing. If you have hex chrome problems, your hex chrome solutions are close by. https://lnkd.in/gE26Bnba #CrVI #HexavalentChromium
“As California goes, so goes the nation” should hold true when it comes to the regulation of hexavalent chromium in drinking water. On April 17, 2024 the California state water resources control board announced that hexavalent chromium will have a maximum contaminant limit (MCL) of 10 parts-per-billion (ppb). The MCL is expected to go into effect by October 1, 2024. Given the significant health impacts of this carcinogenic contaminant, Microvi Biotech Inc. has spent years developing a solution for hexavalent chromium removal based on biological reductive immobilization. Our work, including research funding of $1.2M sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has led to groundbreaking results. The Microvi solution can effectively remove chromium to less than 1 ppb — at a fraction of the cost of conventional systems in a small footprint without generating a significant secondary waste stream. We are excited to share our results, including large-scale operational data at a 6 MGD plant in Pasadena, CA, demonstrating both the efficacy and cost-efficiency of the Microvi solution. To learn more about our technology, please reach out to me or Ali Dorri or send an email to info@microvi.com #water #chromium #drinkingwater #sustainability #innovation

In our second installment of our Biosolids case study series, we dive into a key piece of the diligence process: identifying and validating growth opportunities. For highly-regulated industries like waste processing (i.e. wastewater and biosolids), EPA data and advanced analytics tools allow us to scan the market for outsized opportunities. For this investment opportunity, we highlight areas with large volumes of biosolids with the opportunity for conversion to beneficial reuse. If you’re still relying on expert calls and high-level summary statistics in your due diligence, you’re missing out on evidence-based answers to critical diligence questions. Reach out to see how Vertical Blue can fill those gaps! #DueDiligence #DataScience #Infrastructure #PrivateEquity #Biosolids

🆕 Our colleagues from #Concawe, Delina Lyon and Leslie Saunders, along with Craig Warren Davis, Ph.D., Chesney Swansborough; Chris Hughes, Louise Camenzuli and David B. have just published an insightful paper presenting a model to predict #biodegradability of hydrocarbons in soil and sediment. 🔬 The study presents the Hydrocarbon Biodegradation System Integrated Model (HC-BioSIM), which addresses the limitations of current methodologies when capturing the nuances of biodegradation rates associated with variable test systems and environmental conditions. This model takes into account key environmental and tests factors that affect biodegradability. 🔎 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 🔸 The HC-BioSIM significantly outperformed existing models in soil and sediment 🔸 It permits to reduce average errors in predicted degradation time by up to 6.3- and 8.7-fold for soil and sediment 🔸 The model demonstrated a high consistency of parameter usage/importance and rule structure which supports its applicability to external data sets ➡️ Dive into the details of the HC-BioSIM, find the open-access paper here: https://bitly.ws/3hpS9 #EnvironmentalScience
