Canada’s Migratory Birds Sanctuaries and National Wildlife Areas were created to protect wildlife and their habitats, including migratory birds and species at risk! Enforcement officers patrol these protected areas to make sure visitors follow the rules. If dogs are allowed, they must be on a leash, otherwise they could fetch you a ticket. Remember to: ✔️ Only visit locations open to the public ✔️ Plan your visit during opening hours ✔️ Stay on the trails ✔️ Leave no trace ✔️ Park only in designated areas If you see birds or nests being disturbed, call Canadian Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 1-800-711-1800 (Quebec). Avoiding disturbing wildlife is another good reason to use a long lens in these protected areas, besides getting a ticket. Photo: Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/migratory-bird-sanctuaries/locations/esquimalt-lagoon.html
After serving over 30 years with Environmental Canada, I applaud and respect the efforts of the current officers who are gaurdians of our nations natural resources. Keep the thin green line alive !
No question about fire arms equipment for wildlife enforcers to do their jobs savely in Canada. In contrast to the Netherlands….

7moVisitors to these important ares have to understand this message and comply accordingly to the request for these species and other wildlife. I encourage public outreach to educate the public on this issue. I am a dog owner but I am also smart enough to know and understand that dogs are considered a predator and their mear presence in these sensitive areas disrupts the tranquility of a breeding and nesting environment. Enforcement Officers, I recommend writing as many tickets as you can to those who violate this ordinance and fail to honor posted and written rules because you are speaking for the critters that have no human voice to protect themselves and their offspring. Supervisors and management of these officers, to include judges listening to these cases. Please support this officers when the issue these citations, because people don’t get the message until you get into their pockets and pay a fine. Keep up the good fight and good work.
