🌍✨ Sustaining Our Future: The Role of Pastoralism in Mitigating Climate Change ✨🌍 In the face of climate change, pastoralism stands as a beacon of sustainability. Pastoralists have long adapted to the shifting climates, utilizing their deep knowledge of the land to maintain balance in ecosystems. 🐄🌱 🌿 Why Pastoralism Matters: Resilience: Pastoralists' traditional practices build resilience against climate shocks. Biodiversity: They help preserve biodiversity by maintaining diverse grazing lands. Sustainable Use: Rotational grazing prevents overgrazing, maintaining soil health and reducing carbon footprints. ✨ Let's honor and support pastoral communities in their efforts to protect our planet. Their wisdom and sustainable practices are crucial in our fight against climate change. 🔗 Learn more and get involved: www.essfkenya.org #Sustainability #ClimateChange #Pastoralism #EcoFriendly #GreenFuture #SupportLocalCommunities #Biodiversity #ClimateAction

Climate change only one of 3 ecological crises: One of the biggest challenges facing our planet today is the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and oceans degradation. These crises are interlinked and require immediate attention. Climate change threatens ecosystems and livelihoods, while biodiversity loss weakens the resilience of natural systems. At the same time, oceans degradation exacerbates both crises, disrupting marine ecosystems and exacerbating climate impacts. To address these challenges, we must prioritize science-based solutions, protect habitats, promote sustainable practices, and foster international cooperation. By taking concerted action, we can safeguard our planet's future. It's time to act now and create a more sustainable world for current and future generations. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to take care of our planet. #ClimateChange #BiodiversityLoss #OceansDegradation #SustainableFuture #UNEA #DisasterRiskReduction

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁. 🌍 Forests, often called the 𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, are disappearing at an alarming rate. These vital ecosystems absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and regulate our climate. However, deforestation is putting our planet's health and biodiversity at serious risk. The impact of deforestation is far-reaching. It exacerbates climate change, leading to more frequent and severe weather events. Deforestation affects millions of people who rely on forests for their livelihoods, including indigenous communities, causing significant social and economic upheaval. Join us in taking action today to protect our forests and preserve the natural beauty of our planet for future generations. #Sdg13 #Deforestation #Climateaction #Sustainability #Ecofriendly #Greenfuture #Natureconservation #CLAN

Climate change is already being felt by everyone across the Andes. The scariest part? Water security! With warming temperatures and melting glaciers, the lakes are shrinking the watersheds are drying up and the crops are collapsing. It’s time to take action. So we are! By restoring Polylepis forests and their ecosystems in the High Andes. Working in partnership with Acción Andina, ECOAN, Global Forest Generation and the local communities we’re planting the mighty Polylepis tree, which hits climate change where it hurts! Are you and your business ready to restore the planet? Now’s the time to jump in! Just £1 plants 1 Tree. #generationrestoration #sustainability #greenbusiness #greenfuture #climateaction Video credit: UNEP / UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

From forests and drylands and lakes, natural spaces upon which humanity’s existence depends are reaching a tipping point all over the world under the mounting pressure of a changing climate and human actions. However, conversation and restoration efforts are helping to revive these precious ecosystems and helping to address the impacts of the climate crisis. But more urgent action is needed. From planting and growing trees, harvesting rainwater to buying seasonal and local produce when possible, everyone can be a part of #GenerationRestoration and heal the planet for a livable future for all. The World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, serves as a critical reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve our planet. This year's theme is “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”. The current global turmoil experienced due to floods, wildfires and cyclones underscores the urgent need to address climate change and its profound impact in Kenya & globally. Climate change, driven largely by human activities such as deforestation, industrial emissions, and the burning of fossil fuels, is causing unprecedented shifts in weather patterns, rising sea levels, and more frequent extreme weather events as experienced in the recent past. Global temperatures have been steadily increasing, with recent years consistently breaking records. This warming trend is not just a statistic but a stark reality affecting ecosystems and human societies worldwide. Glaciers are melting, coral reefs are bleaching and biodiversity is under existential threat. It is crucial to acknowledge that combating climate change requires immediate and sustained action. From reducing our carbon footprint to scaling renewable energy use, we can reduce the negatives and increase the positives. As Boreka Group we are in the frontline taking action as we walk the talk in a bid to do our best in providing mitigation & adaptation opportunities towards combating climate change. We are cognisant that the rocket science of climate action lies in protecting, conserving and restoring ecosystems & biodiversity. As Boreka, we have adopted the use of nature based solutions to harness natural processes to restore ecosystems and enhance biodiversity. By protecting and sustainably managing natural resources, these solutions promote resilience, support livelihoods and sustainable coexistence between humans and nature. We work with communities to catalyze action in tree growing and other conservation activities. We appreciate that some of these communities are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. We provide them with the knowledge & awareness on matters - climate change and support them in creating sustainable action plans for implementation to connect the learning to action. We call upon all citizens of the planet to take action and commit to safeguard the environment for future generations, fostering a world where both nature and humanity can thrive in harmony. “Each of us can be an eco champion, individually & collectively. No positive action is too small to count” - Esther Mutuma, Founder & CEO Boreka Group www.boreka.co.ke #worldenvironmentday #reflections #focus #climatechange #goal13 #SDGs
