What Auden Schendler wrote and what Laurie McGinley highlights! I see massive, stunning, historical #ClimateInfluence potential from even a couple of businesses stepping *forward* at this time. Who wants to be part of changing the #leadership social norm toward ACTING? This point of Auden's: "To truly make a difference, businesses must move beyond their own individual sustainability efforts (crucial as those may be) and embrace both movement-building and political action." Being seen truly leading (and you have to get more visible doing it to make that happen!) will hugely nudge movement building and political action. Again - which leaders are ready to be more visible and make this critical difference? I, for one, will highlight those boldly doing this from my media projects/collaborations platform. And, I'm sure there are many others in the #climatemedia space who are also looking for such counterintuitive stories. Who will ACT as others back off? #storytelling #CoveringClimate #media #leadership #sustainability

The business community has — with a few exceptions — taken itself out of the real climate fight. With the potential for influence that businesses have, they must get back in, and soon. This great Harvard Business Review article by Auden Schendler shares how businesses can mobilize and move the needle with customers and with the fossil fuel industry: https://lnkd.in/gstRkX2B Auden works for Aspen One, which is a thriving business that relies on winter time tourism for profit. Their very existence is threatened by the ever more unpredictable winter weather we experience now and will experience due to climate change. Making changes to our policies is about more than just doing what's right—it affects our top-line revenue, markets, and overall business health, too. #leadership #climatechange #climateleaders #sustainbility #globalwarming

The Atlantic Economic Council has written extensively on the importance of good regulation. One area where this is particularly important is for green investments to support the transition to net zero emissions. Investors need regulatory clarity and certainty before making what are usually large, long-term investments. Lana Asaff articulates this in her post.

The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2023: Special Edition underscores both the challenges and opportunities in achieving the SDGs by 2030. It acknowledges the setbacks caused by the climate crisis, the conflict in Ukraine, economic fragility, and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These factors have highlighted existing weaknesses and slowed progress towards the SDGs, particularly impacting the world's poorest and most vulnerable populations. Despite these obstacles, the report emphasizes the potential for success through strong political will and leveraging available technologies, resources, and knowledge. It calls for a redoubling of efforts across sectors and nations to address urgent areas needing action. By harnessing global cooperation and innovation, the global community can reignite progress towards the SDGs and create a brighter future for all. https://lnkd.in/edisrPax
