How can Bridgette Stocks and the Fehr Graham team assist you in your Brownfield redevelopment needs? Planning + Solutions + Experience = Success and Client Value. We have the dedicated team to make these opportunities a reality!
In her latest blog post, #FehrGraham Senior Community Development Specialist Bridgette Stocks, MBA, discusses US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grants and some BIG WINS for communities that help transform brownfield sites. Since 1995, the EPA’s brownfield program has helped revitalize contaminated sites. In Illinois, nine communities will benefit from $7.3 million to transform hazardous sites and Fehr Graham helped secure grants for six of those projects – turning places like Danville, Dixon and South Beloit from industrial relics to thriving community hubs.

Come work with me!! We are recruiting an Executive Assistant position, who will be working with Board Member Sean Maguire and me. It is an Associate Government Program Analyst (AGPA) permanent position, hybrid schedule, so a really good entry into state service. It requires a college degree and at least 30 months of work experience. Salary is $5,684.00 - $7,114.00 per Month. The application period closes May 31st so we need candidates to apply really soon. This job requires someone that is very organized and detail oriented, comfortable with complex meeting and travel scheduling within the agency’s systems, has good judgement, an ability to herd cats, and problem solve. And importantly for me, I hope to find someone that is fun to work with and cares about the mission of the waterboards and the communities we serve. This is the one staff I get to work with regularly so I would love to find someone great. Candidates do NOT need subject matter expertise, but it is an opportunity to be providing support inside state water decision-making. Here is some additional info on what I see as the opportunities with this position for someone that is interested in water policy: -Get an in-depth look at how water policy is made at the highest level in California on issues ranging from: -Implementation of the Human Right to Water, including funding, assistance, research and enforcement strategies to ensure all Californians can access safe, reliable and affordable drinking water. -Water rights administration, regulations, and adjudications as we chart pathways to bring in racial equity and adaptation to climate change. -Water quality regulatory program development and oversight of major polluting sources from agriculture, to stormwater, to aging sewer systems, in a time of climate change and exacerbated wealth inequality. -Investment of billions of dollars in grants and loans to transform water and wastewater systems to meet challenges of climate change and address decades of disinvestment in communities of color. -Support decision-makers to oversee major initiative to advance racial equity throughout the waterboards work. -Develop talking points and presentations, research policy questions, engage with key stakeholders to advance policy priorities of Board Member Maguire and me. However, this is primarily scheduling and administrative support, including prepping materials and follow up for meetings with stakeholders for both Board Member Maguire and me. So this isn’t a good fit for someone that doesn’t want to do that support work. Again, it closes May 31st so we need candidates to apply really soon! Please help spread the word!

Environmental Land Management (ELM) could be used to boost access to nature. This would foster a public appreciation for the countryside & help Government meet the target to give everyone access to nature within 15 minutes of their home. But plans are currently lacking in detail & ambition. We need to see more support for farmers & landowners to give better access to nature, better records of compliance to ensure public rights of way are kept clear of obstructions, & an emphasis on permanent access instead of permissive - to give local communities longer term benefits.
