A genuine pleasure to have been part of this year’s #EFRJconference in #Tallinn on #restorativejustice Responses in Dark Times. Being the sole 🇷🇴 representative in this year’s conference, while many other countries brought delegations, highlights the still developing maturity of restorative practices in my country. What stayed with me during this conference is: ✅ #sexviolence against children could be tackled by delivering #sexeducation restoratively in schools - e.g of 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ✅ Successful reintegration of young offenders could be achieved through a holistic intervention including action plans, #restorativejustice and follow-up teams - e.g. of 🇳🇴 ✅ ‘Restorative life book’ - the use of conversational formats developed in #prison to help those incarcerated in engaging in recovery-oriented work and improving reintegration rates - e.g. of 🇳🇱   ✅ In mass violence, resentment will always make you look backwards - e.g. of 🇨🇴 ✅ In an ongoing large-scale conflict, resilience is also achieved through black humour - e.g. of 🇺🇦 ✅ We need to listen to each other’s expertise - e.g. of 🇺🇸 ✅ 🇪🇪 Estonia understood some time ago that 1️⃣ prison is no place for children and 2️⃣ community sentence is way more efficient than prison ✅ “Are we still enemies if our pain is the same?” - e.g. testimonial by an 🇦🇲 youth participant There is still much to be explored regarding victimisation in #cyberspace and the role of #restorativejustice in this context. Perhaps next year in #Athens, we could delve into this topic. 😊
