Together, they plan to develop a wind turbine manufacturing plant in the Kingdom, a significant step towards localizing supply chains and boosting renewable energy production. 🌬️🏭 According to Bloomberg, the deal, which could be signed this week, involves PIF and Vision Industries collaborating with Envision Energy Co. Envision is expected to be the majority investor, leveraging their extensive experience in Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy sector. 🌱🔋 This new plant is part of Saudi Arabia's larger strategy to reduce its reliance on oil for power and invest billions in renewable energy. Envision already supplies wind turbines for the $9 billion Neom Green Hydrogen Co., set to use 4 gigawatts of solar and wind power to produce clean hydrogen. 💧☀️ In other exciting news, ACWA Power has completed a significant deal with China Southern Power Grid International (CSGIHK), selling 35% of its stake in two major wind projects in Uzbekistan. Massive power grid project gets new investor!  TotalEnergies has invested £20 million to acquire a minority stake in Xlinks First Limited, a company founded in 2019 in the United Kingdom, joining investors Octopus Energy and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA Group). Xlinks plans to develop the huge Morocco-UK Power Project in Morocco to supply renewable electricity to the United Kingdom through the installation of high-voltage direct current (HDVC) undersea cables, coupled with a large battery energy storage. This “first of a kind” project is expected to generate up to 11.5 gigawatts (GW) from the sun and wind to deliver 3.6-GW of reliable energy for an average of 20+ hours a day. The project involves the development and construction of about 3,800 km (2,400 miles) of undersea cables – making it, when complete, the longest interconnector ever built. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational in 2029, with the second phase due in 2031. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has partnered with the world’s second-largest manufacturer of solar cell components for a $2.8 billion-power production plant in the Kingdom. A statement from TCL ZHONGHUAN confirmed the agreement, which is one of three signed off by the sovereign wealth fund on July 16 as it seeks to boost Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy sector. The deals involve creating joint ventures with Saudi firm Vision Industries | رؤية للصناعة. One plan will see RELC working with Envision Energy to transform Saudi Arabia into a manufacturer of wind turbines and components. The third deal involves an agreement with Jinko Solar to localize production of photovoltaic cells and modules. Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in diversifying its energy mix toward renewable sources to meet its pledge to cut carbon emissions and promote sustainable development. By 2030, the country aims to source at least 50% of its electricity from renewables.
