What is a CT scan? A CT scan is an x-ray procedure that obtains detailed, cross-sectional images of various parts of the body such as the head, stomach, or chest. Unlike an MRI, a CT scan shows bone and joint abnormalities, blood clots, and organ injuries. Not only that, but CTs can also diagnose muscle and bone disorders and pinpoint the location of tumors, blood clots, or infections.
