Partnering with EMCs and telecom cooperatives to provide members and families in rural communities access to affordable quality healthcare for one flat monthly fee
This NRHA report confirms the vast gap between access to quality affordable healthcare in American cities versus rural communities.

Western Victoria PHN crew at this year's Department of Health and Aged Care Primary Care Conference in Canberra. From left: Executive Director Andrew Giddy, Chair Prof Susan Brumby, Deputy Chair Jan Milliken, Executive Director Nigel Jarvis CPA, GAICD, CEO Craig Wilding and Executive Director Janelle Jakowenko GAICD. The conference has (so far) been an opportunity to hear directly from DoHAC (www.health.gov.au) network and discuss where the future will take us. We have heard about the priorities crafting the next National Health Reform Agreement: >leveraging technology >health prevention >health equity > systems integration. We have heard about system-wide partnership models (https://lnkd.in/g4A9ePEC) and that cultural safety is clinical safety (aida.org.au). #WVPHN#primarycare#networking#outcomes#valuebasedhealthcare#healthreform#integratedcare#innovation
With the palliative care "hardware" being prepped for the imminent tsunami, the "software" also needs focus and support. This includes supporting caregivers, providing end-of-life literacy programs and platforms to allow people to be more comfortable about end-of-life conversations.
These important conversations will need to be moved upstream in order to ignite the awareness and search for palliative care options early, and hopefully be prepared for what's to come.

Senior Public Health Physician and Military Medical Officer with 15+ years of experience in healthcare management, policy making and operations.
As Singapore's population ages, the demand for compassionate and accessible palliative care increases. I am happy to share that my letter, emphasizing the need for a robust palliative care system, has been published in Straits Times forum.
In the letter, I commend the Ministry of Health’s efforts to improve palliative care through initiatives like the increased home palliative care capacity and the referrals portal. Yet, as we face the upcoming silver tsunami, we must expand these efforts.
Key points I discussed include:
- Integrating palliative care with primary healthcare to facilitate early identification and seamless care transition.
- Enhancing the education and training of our healthcare professionals in palliative care.
- Supporting families and caregivers emotionally and financially.
- Providing compassionate leave for employees with terminally ill relatives
- Utilizing technology to extend the reach and efficacy of palliative care services.
I had also wanted to add on “increasing public awareness on palliative care and Advanced Care Planning”. This dialogue is crucial for preparing our healthcare system for the future. Read the full letter here and let’s discuss how we can collectively contribute to this vital sector.
