Honoring Patriot Day Today, we observe Patriot Day, a solemn day of remembrance for the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Established by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush in December 2001, Patriot Day honors the nearly 3,000 victims of the tragic attacks and recognizes the bravery of the first responders and ordinary citizens who risked their lives to save others. On this day, we reflect on the resilience and unity that emerged from such profound loss. We remember the courage and selflessness displayed and reaffirm our commitment to the values of freedom and democracy that define our nation. Call to Action: Moment of Silence: At 8:46 AM, the time the first plane struck the North Tower, observe a moment of silence to honor the victims. Volunteer: Engage in community service to honor the spirit of unity and service. Support First Responders: Express gratitude to local first responders and support organizations that assist them. Educate and Reflect: Share stories and lessons learned from 9/11 with younger generations. Let’s come together to honor and remember, and to continue to build a future rooted in unity and resilience. #PatriotDay #NeverForget #September11 #HonorTheFallen #FirstResponders #Unity #Resilience #ServiceAndSacrifice #AmericanHeroes

Remembering 9/11 on Patriot Day: A Personal Reflection on Unity and Resilience Today, on Patriot Day, we mark 23 years since the September 11th attacks. I still vividly remember being in 9th grade when my entire class was suddenly evacuated without explanation. School buses were waiting, and we were sent home. When I arrived, my parents were in front of the TV, watching as billowing clouds of smoke rose from the Twin Towers in New York City. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the magnitude of what was happening, but I knew America was in trouble. We were evacuated because we were near a military base, and with Washington D.C. just an hour away—another target had been hit. In 2018, I was in New York City on September 11th, and I remember walking through Chinatown, where fireworks were set off in honor of the victims. It startled me, but it was a reminder of the profound loss and the resilience of those who survived and those who risked their lives. Now, on September 11th, 2024, our country feels more divided than ever, especially after the recent presidential debates. There’s so much vitriol from both sides of the political aisle. But today, on Patriot Day, it's crucial to remember that unity is more powerful than clinging to extremes. We must continue honoring those who sacrificed on 9/11 and the countless heroes who continue to serve. Living in Nevada, I’ve come to appreciate the independent spirit of Nevadans. We don’t shy away from recognizing how fortunate we are to be in America, despite its flaws. Today, let’s reflect on how, as a country, we can come together again—just as we did after 9/11. Let’s take this day to remember, unite, and work toward a future where unity is our greatest strength. #NeverForget #PatriotDay #September11 #Unity #Resilience #America

Today we take a moment to reflect on the profound sacrifices made by millions during World War II. On this occasion of remembrance and reconciliation, we pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom, justice, and peace. Seventy years have passed since the guns fell silent, but the reverberations of war still linger in our hearts and minds. We remember the soldiers who valiantly fought on the battlefields, the civilians who endured unimaginable hardships, and the families torn apart by the ravages of conflict. In acknowledging the ongoing struggles that people face daily, such as poverty, inequality, and mental health issues, we must broaden our commemoration. The battles of World War II resulted in countless innocent victims, including women and children who were left to support their families in the absence of husbands and fathers, facing economic hardship and social upheaval. Children, too, bore the scars of war, their innocence shattered by violence and displacement, often enduring lifelong trauma. Over the last 35 years, CSVR has worked tirelessly in our efforts to strive towards peaceful, equal, and violence-free societies. This underscores the importance of addressing not only historical conflicts but also the contemporary challenges that threaten peace and human well-being. Let's work to ensure that the horrors of war never resurface and that the ideals they fought for—freedom, democracy, and human dignity—endure for generations to come. #CSVR35 #TimeOfRemembranceAndReconciliation #PeacefulSocieties

The closest many will get to understanding the carnage and sacrifice of the D-Day Landings 80 years ago today will be through watching films like Saving Private Ryan or visiting museums. Over 4000 allied forces lost their lives on 6 June 1944 to help defeat the Nazi ideology 80 years ago, so that today we can enjoy the freedoms we have, and too often take for granted. It is our duty to protect the freedoms we have and never forget those that laid down their lives in 1944 and throughout two World Wars. It is duty too to also educate our children and future generations to commemorate days like today. Find articles like the one below with facts about D-Day they can read to understand the sacrifices. But most of all we must also say never again to global wars and to dictators no matter what flag they fly and their cause https://lnkd.in/du6ZjQWv #dday80 #neverforget #sacrifice #operationoverlord #educate #neveragain
