“Thank you for choosing Southwest Airlines, this is Manzel how can I assist you? 💙❤️💛” Okay😅, while I will leave the ticket handling to our SWAmazing Customer Service Cohearts, learning more about our Operation is always a great way to begin the day 🍩☕️. One of the great things I learned about being in Aviation these last five years is the world is forever changing, forever evolving, and within that – we will always be SOARING to meet the needs for our Customers, no matter what modifications may come our way ✈️. Despite the odds, what keeps us going is our Smile. As little as it may seem, having a positive outlook can be groundbreaking, life changing, not just for YOU; but for those around you. A smile is what keeps us at Southwest going, and most importantly – Hospitality is FREE 💰! 🔹️ Development is super important, no matter what level you are in your career. Stepping out of your confront zone is what helps you grow, even if it means working our gates, and providing directions to our Customers. ➡️ Remember, a mistake does not make you in the wrong; but an area of opportunity to gain a skill you may thought you never had💯. #motivation #recruiting #development #careers #aviation #networking #opportunities #letsconnect #recruiter #hospitality #culture

Board Member Spotlight! This week we are featuring Alex Heiter, Director of Air Service Development at Tampa International Airport (TPA). Where do you live? I live in Pasco County, about 30-minutes north of TPA What is your current role and does it involve aviation? I serve as the Director of Air Service Development – a role that involves close collaboration with our airline partners to bring new non-stop flights and routes to TPA. Favorite aircraft. Boeing 757-200 Favorite destination: Anywhere I can fly nonstop from TPA! Do you have your pilot's license? No, just ground school in college Do you prefer window or aisle seat? Window, always! What is something on your bucket list? I still have a handful of countries to visit on my bucket list What is your favorite memory from a TJDAS event? My first gala dinner where I had the chance to meet Brad Tilden of Alaska Airlines. Turns out his dad had worked at a Boeing facility down the street from my old house. Why did you join TJDAS? TPA has a close relationship with the Society, and I wanted to help keep those ties strong. What piece of advice would you give to high school or college students interested in aviation? First of all, try to find a mentor who has some connections in the industry. Secondly, don’t give up on the dream – it can be a tough industry to get into, but don’t give up on the dream, it will pay off over time! Any other information you’d like to add: I’ve flown over 2.5 million miles for business and pleasure, visiting close to 70 countries. My favorite aviation moment was meeting Neil Armstrong when I was in college.

Great success
May was United Airlines’ tenth month in a row ranking among the best in on-time departures. 🎉 It was also our busiest May and busiest Memorial Day weekend on record, and the weather didn’t make it any easier for multiple of our hub airports. To put it in perspective, more than 30% of Chicago’s operational hours were impacted by weather over the holiday weekend, but only 3% of our flights were canceled. And that’s not all I’m proud of. We also saw our highest May NPS score post-pandemic — a testament to our resilient employees who take care of customers and each other.

60 SECONDS WITH … Janis Balkens Janis Balkens is a Latvian national with over 20 years of experience in leadership, operational and commercial roles in aviation. He has worked extensively with airports, airlines, ground handlers and logistics companies, and most recently, he held the position of Regional Chief Executive Officer for New and Emerging Markets at dnata. Balkens holds an MBA in Aviation from the Danube University Krems and completed executive management programmes at the London Business School and INSEAD. Balkens joined Unilode Aviation Solutions in October 2023 as Chief Operating Officer. How did you get into airfreight/logistics? My dad worked at customs at the airport in the early 90’s and I took a Summer job there when I was 15. Since then I always wanted to come back, and I started with airBaltic in 1996. What quote has most resonated with you? Treat others how you would like to be treated. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Don’t lie. What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done? I can’t disclose it… If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would it be and why? Michael Jordan, my sports idol, Robert de Niro, to see if he’s fun or boring, and my Godfather John, who passed away during Covid, and I did not have a chance to see him for a few last years. https://lnkd.in/eDbYezMd #AirCargo #AirFreight #SupplyChain #Logistics #AirCargoWeek

Imagine a world where cruise ships didn't have set departure times! In the early 19th century, passengers and cargo could wait weeks in port for a ship to fill its hold before setting sail. Enter the Black Ball Line, a group of innovative New York Quakers who pioneered the concept of scheduled transatlantic service. Their idea? Reliability! The Black Ball Ferry Line published departure dates in advance, ensuring a smoother #travel #experience for all. #History was made on January 5, 1818, when the James Monroe, a Black Ball Line packet ship, became the first vessel to depart New York Harbor for Liverpool, England, on a predetermined #schedule. This marked a turning point in #maritime travel, paving the way for the organized and predictable cruises we enjoy today. #CruiseHistory #Maritime #Innovation #BlackBalLine #Travtech #TravelTechnology #Innovation #Technology #Futurism

End of the week, stuck in the Qantas lounge due to weather delays and a canceled flight, so it’s the perfect time to reflect. This week I had 1 partner meeting and 3 prospect meetings that look like a strong fit. But more importantly, I'm thrilled to report that each of these sessions was a step forward towards their goals - a testament to their hard work and our commitment to their success. Job well done! Now, onto next week’s challenges. #ReflectAndReset #ClientSuccess #BusinessGrowth #ITServices #loadiinggrowth
