The below photo might remind you of the lyrics „what a difference a day makes“.. No?
Well, as you might appreciate, this took a bit more than a day: one of the vessels in our #management underwent the intermediate dock, also known as an intermediate survey or docking. It is a scheduled maintenance event typically conducted around the halfway point between the major 5-year renewal drydockings.
The primary purpose of the #intermediate #dock was to inspect the vessel's hull, machinery, and systems to identify any issues that may have developed since the last #drydocking. This time it evolved around hull #maintenance: cleaning, treatment and painting, and any other tasks deemed necessary based on the vessel's operational history, age and regulatory requirements.
Intermediate docks can be costly and require the vessel to be out of service for a period of time. With careful planning and coordination we managed to fit into the scheduled time frame and were able to even optimize some of the budgeted costs.
How, you ask?
Well, this dry dock also marked the #onboarding of one of our freshest supermen – Technical Superintendent Roman Andrejev joined us right in time for the dock and brought a wealth of precious Yard knowledge from the other side of the table.
Yes, there were some hiccups along the way, but we love ourselves a bit of a challenge, don’t we?
