Our Envu ANZ team recently had the opportunity to attend The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association's Conference & Trade Exhibition in Brisbane, Queensland. As the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, it was an incredibly valuable experience that brought together hundreds of #sportsturf management professionals from across the world. The four-day event offered a wealth of education and showcased the latest in #turfmanagement machinery, equipment, research, technology and products. Highlights included: ☑ Educational Workshops and Seminars: Sessions covered essential management and leadership skills alongside new technology and maintenance practices. These sessions, hosted by leading Australian and international presenters, provided attendees with the knowledge they need to both advance their careers and enhance their facilities. ☑ National Turf Industry Awards Dinner: The event kicked off with the prestigious awards dinner, where we were proud to sponsor the 2024 ASTMA Excellence in Golf Course Management Award. Congratulations to this year’s award recipient, Tom Tristram from Secret Harbour Golf Links, Western Australia. Under his leadership, Secret Harbour has flourished, with significant improvements in course playability, major machinery upgrades and a thriving maintenance team. Tom, we look forward to seeing how your innovative approach will set new benchmarks for the industry. ☑ Interactive Technical Workshop: Our very own Jyri Kaapro, senior development specialist, joined Dr. Jay McCurdy for an engaging discussion on developing management programs for weeds in warm-season grasses, including preemergence and postemergence options. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and participated in our sessions. And a special thank you to the whole Envu ANZ sports turf team — Rachel C., Craig Burleigh, Amy Kernke, Jyri Kaapro, Scott Wallis, Dave Hurst and Martyna Synak — who all played integral roles in bringing the booth and conference concept from idea to life. And last but not least, thank you to James Royal and Colin Mumford from our #Envu community for joining us this year in Brisbane! To deliver excellent and consistent playability, turf must be able to withstand whatever nature throws at it. That’s why we partner with sports turf managers, greens keepers and #golfcourse superintendents to protect their turf and enhance its resilience. Events like #ASTMA24 allow us to connect, learn and advance from the best in the industry, ensuring we continue to bring game-changing solutions to the industry. Today, we are present in 30% of golf courses and protect over 130,000 hectares of green spaces across the globe. Because to create healthier environments in which nature and humanity can both thrive, we must Be a Force With Nature.

After rigorous on-site trials, Paul Lawrence, Head Greenkeeper at Woodbridge Golf Club, has implemented H2Pro AquaSmart into his fairway management programme. This decision was primarily driven by the need to maintain optimal turf health and optimise water usage, which are critical under the challenging weather conditions throughout the UK and Ireland. Paul reported significant improvements during the trials, stating, "The trials provided clear evidence of how well H2Pro AquaSmart performs under the demanding weather and soil conditions we face here. Its efficiency in using water and sustaining turf health was particularly impressive." Optimised for low-rate applications over large areas, H2Pro AquaSmart offers both efficacy and economic benefits. "The efficiency and cost-effectiveness of H2Pro AquaSmart were key factors in our decision," Paul continued. "It aligns perfectly with our goals of sustainability and careful budget management." Since integrating H2Pro AquaSmart, Woodbridge Golf Club has seen marked improvements in their fairways. The turf is healthier, and the playing conditions have consistently improved. Paul’s endorsement of H2Pro AquaSmart underscores its effectiveness and efficiency, especially over large areas. In our latest article, we shed light on the evolution of golf courses. Drawing from our extensive experience in similar projects, I wanted to share the kinds of tasks that Community Solutions Group has undertaken that make us well-equipped to assist clients in converting golf courses into vibrant community spaces such as neighborhoods and parks. Assessing Existing Conditions: Conducting a thorough assessment of the current golf course involves inventorying land, facilities, environmental features, and surrounding infrastructure. Analyzing usage patterns and demographic trends helps gauge the demand for alternative land uses. Additionally, evaluating the ecological significance of the site identifies sensitive habitats and biodiversity hotspots. Engaging Stakeholders: Engaging stakeholders is crucial for building consensus. This involves organizing public forums, workshops, and surveys to gather input from residents, businesses, environmental groups, and others. Collaboration among government agencies, developers, conservationists, and community organizations ensures comprehensive consideration of viewpoints. Developing a Conceptual Plan: The insights gleaned from stakeholders inform the creation of a visionary conceptual plan for the golf course's future use. Exploring various land use options like mixed-use development, green spaces, and affordable housing prioritizes sustainable design principles such as compact development and renewable energy integration. Conducting Feasibility Studies: Assessing economic viability and environmental impacts is essential for determining project feasibility. This entails evaluating construction costs, market demand, and revenue streams alongside conducting environmental impact assessments. Identifying funding sources and incentives further supports the conversion project's realization. Collaborating with Design Professionals: Collaboration with architects, and our in-house planners, landscape architects, and engineers translates the conceptual plan into detailed designs. Navigating Regulatory Processes: Navigating zoning, permitting, and regulatory approvals necessitates clear communication with relevant authorities. Processing rezoning applications, land use changes, and environmental permits while adhering to regulations ensures legal compliance. Implementing the Conversion Plan: Developing a phased implementation strategy prioritizes key components based on feasibility and community needs. Coordinating construction activities and monitoring progress ensures successful implementation aligned with the approved master plan. Fostering Community Engagement and Ownership: Empowering residents and community groups to participate in stewardship activities enhances community cohesion. Creating opportunities for volunteerism and partnerships fosters a sense of ownership and pride in the revitalized space.

Moore Park Golf Course: Half a Course Full or Half a Glass Empty? Due to the burgeoning golf industry and urban population growth, councils and state governments grapple with decisions about city greenery. Amid pandemic discussions, the idea of repurposing golf course land for public parks emerged. While public courses are thriving, the scarcity of tee times in city-based golf courses raises concerns about eradicating key courses in major cities. Balancing the exploitation of green space for public benefit has become crucial. The NSW State government recently declared its intent to transform nine holes of Moore Park Golf Course into a public park, repurposing 20 hectares to support 80,000 residents by 2040. Premier Chris Minns envisions transforming experiences with more natural parkland and recreation space, emphasising the opportunity for densely populated communities to enjoy outdoor activities. Lord Mayor Clover Moore AO assures that the nine-hole course, driving range, and clubhouse will remain, addressing the concerns of golfers. However, some locals fear the move is a transition to increase the area's population rather than preserving it as parkland. The community, golfers, and non-golfers are engaged in a debate on whether this outcome is best for all. Managing land use in populous areas is essential, but eliminating golf courses may not be the sole solution. In Scotland, locals use golf course land for recreational walks and activities on Sundays. Similarly, Malvern Valley Golf Club integrates a bike and walking path through nine holes. As city populations grow, preserving greenery becomes vital. Maintaining functional parks, golf courses, and sporting grounds ensures an excellent standard of living. Monitoring the NSW State government's conclusions is crucial to understand the optimal approach. We hope all possibilities are examined to sustain golf courses and provide cities with the parkland they deserve. - - - - SHARE your views! What are your thoughts on repurposing golf courses for public parks? Is it a necessary step for urban expansion, or are there alternative ways to maintain both golf courses and public greenery? Share your thoughts on whether the decision aligns with community interests and the need for accessible green spaces. #golfcourses #news #greenspace

⛳𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁⛳ ⭐ Welcome to 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘊𝘭𝘶𝘣 ⭐ Situated on 63 acres of East Austin's Dog Head region, course architect Roy Bechtol and Jim Fazio Jr. brought the vision of Austin Beach Club to life in bustling East Austin. Surrounded by the Texas Hill Country's iconic landscape, the incoming 12-hole par-three course combines the game of golf with meaningful connections through a vibrant clubhouse, exclusive member events, and a wide offering of outdoor activities Here's a Snipbit from The Austin American-Statesman on 𝘈 𝘱𝘢𝘳-3 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝙍𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘾𝘰𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴? Roy Bechtol said he believes smaller courses like the 12-hole planned at Austin Beach Club is the wave of the future. "Golf is a demanding game, to say the least. I think you're seeing a move afoot with younger millennials to play in a way that takes less time and is more fun," he said. "This just opens it up to so much more of the populace to fall in love with the game. It's a much quicker way to spend the day." A 12-hole short course can be played in two hours, versus an average of four to six hours to play 18 holes. "What we're trying to create at the Austin Beach Club is to play real golf, get outdoors, get away from computers," said Bechtol, who is collaborating with course designer Jim Fazio Jr. on the project. "It's a way to get the whole family out in a fun environment." Steve Termeer, general manager at the UT Texas Golf Club, said courses like the one planned at Austin Beach Club are what many players are seeking.
