Bella Lien United Way of Cass-Clay The Working Genius "Did you know there are six different types of 'work' that exist across three phases of 'work'? Some of them will frustrate you instantaneously, some you will be fine with for a bit, and some will provide you infinite happiness and satisfaction. This impacts near every aspect of our work! Hiring, department/team structure, team meetings, productivity, conflict, teamwork, and leadership. They are all impacted by what we find fulfilling and what we find frustrating. By applying the working genius, individuals and teams can become aware of where they all stand with the work they do. If we can be aware of our working genius as well as our working frustrations, we can better perform together, not just more effectively, but more happily." 😃 Date: Thursday, April 25 Time: 8:30-10 a.m. Location: United Way of Cass-Clay - 4351 23rd Avenue S., Fargo, ND 58104 Register here to attend! https://lnkd.in/gzqEidjy

Today is Statement Day at Butler/Till, and that has me reflecting on all of the ways that employee ownership impacts our stakeholders. As an agency governed by an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), every one of our employees is an owner, and every one of our owners is an employee. For employee-owners of Butler/Till, this means that they have a material stake in the success of the business. The work that we all do day-to-day benefits all of us. It's a mentality that is hard to describe until you've experienced it. It creates a culture of engagement and growth. For our clients, it means that their success is directly tied to the success of every single person who works on their business. It's kind of like getting that special service from the owner when you go to a restaurant. Our people own the business, and they are invested in the work they do for our clients. For our partners, it means collaboration with a group of people who are consistently seeking the collective win. As owners, we want to build things that solve problems and provide benefit for everyone involved. Every time I meet with partners, I hear how it's so refreshing to work with Butler/Till, because our people care about the work. So, today we'll celebrate our new share price and the statements that each of us will receive outlining the details of our individual ownership. That's a great feeling, but the spirit of employee ownership is anything but individual. It's about doing this work for each other. That's why today is my favorite work day of the year. Happy statement day to all of my fellow Butler/Till employee-owners. #employeeownership #ESOP #statementday
This week all 300+ of us are gearing up for our annual Statement Day! More than just a gathering for our employee-owners, Statement Day is our annual event where we come together to celebrate the hard work and dedication that drives our success as a company. As an ESOP, on Statement Day, each of us learns the value of our shares, a moment filled with excitement and a little confetti of course too! Learn more about our upcoming Statement Day in our recent blog. https://hubs.li/Q02zGCFw0

Yesterday, our Knicks Service Team was inspired by an article about focusing on our strengths rather than trying to fix our weaknesses. The article highlighted how identifying what we do best, embracing those unique capabilities and learning from others can lead to greater success and satisfaction individually and together as a team. Here is some advice on how to best put your strongest qualities to work for you: 1. Identify your strengths, name them, and concentrate on them. Employees are encouraged to solicit input from others and identify the core strengths that make them unique, valuable, and passionate about their work. 2. Don’t compare yourself with others, but approach people who inspire or even challenge you for your growth. It’s a whole new world and we have so much to learn from each other; explore the sides of yourself that you may not even think existed. Consider aligning yourself with people you may feel competitive towards and give yourself permission to learn. 3. Offset your development areas by capitalizing on the strengths of others. One of the greatest values of having a team and coworkers is the variety of perspectives, talents, and skills to get the job done successfully. While we cannot be experts at everything, we typically are surrounded by others who have the know-how to get things done successfully. Learn from those around you. Capitalize on the strength of others, and while the work is ongoing, use the experience as an opportunity for observation and personal progress. Thank you Frankie Garrett for leading the discussion!
