MotoGP is set for a new era starting in 2027. A package of regulatory changes aims to redefine the landscape of the premier class of #motorcycle racing, with the goal of increasing #safety, rebalancing the competitive landscape, and embracing #sustainability. Among the most significant changes: • Removal of ride height devices and reduction of aerodynamic appendages: for easier-to-ride bikes and a lower environmental impact. • Reduction of engine displacement from 1000 to 850 cc: for less powerful engines, reduced fuel consumption, and an overall lower weight. • 100% non-fossil fuel: a concrete step towards a more sustainable future for motorsport. • Telemetry available to everyone: for greater transparency and enrichment of race storytelling. What can we expect? Aesthetically less extreme bikes, but still with high performance. A more balanced fight between European and Japanese manufacturers. The entry of new players into the #championship. An ever-increasing focus on #sustainability. Read the full article on our blog to discover all the details of the new rules and their impact on the future of #MotoGP! ➡ https://lnkd.in/dWT6_ZT2 #MotoGP #2027 #NewRules #Safety #Balance #Sustainability

A new era of on-track innovationThe latest breakthrough in the Ducati Corse-Lenovo partnership marks an industry first and promises to change the way data is utilised in MotoGP. Using Lenovo’s advanced workstation, the team can now create a digital twin of the racecourse – a detailed virtual model that accurately maps the track’s curves using 200GB of data per circuit. As the Ducati Lenovo Team powers up for a potential hat-trick in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, they’re shifting gears in a new era where data, not just fuel, drives the race. We spoke to Andrea Gorfer about Lenovo and Ducati's evolving partnership, the revolutionary track-enabled robot and how advanced data analytics are helping the team shave seconds off every race. #WeAreLenovo #ducaticorse http://spr.ly/6046oWDeg

Aero war intensifying? Our Ducati MotoGP launch takeaways https://lnkd.in/e_uCerYR With Ducati Corse’s notoriously secretive boss Gigi Dall’Igna unlikely to give away too many engineering secrets ahead of the start of 2024 MotoGP pre-season testing, and no changes to the rider line-up or main sponsors, Ducati’s launch event at Italian ski resort Madonna di Campiglio wasn’t expected to produce many earth-shattering revelations. But there were still things to be gleaned after reigning world champion Pecco Bagnaia and his team-mate Enea Bastianini pulled the covers off a machine that at least has changed a little bit visually from last year and - surprise, surprise - features even more red paint than before. Perhaps the most exciting news of the whole launch came in almost a throwaway line from Dall’Igna. He casually mentioned that the bike that actually hits the track at Sepang next month will feature “fairings extremely different to those we’ve used before”. And that means that there’s likely a serious escalation in MotoGP’s aerodynamics war in the pipeline. It’s an area that was basically invented by Dall’Igna’s team and which has since been consistently driven forward by Ducati not just through wings on the front of the bike but with new innovations like rear seat unit aero devices and ground effect fairings. But we’ve not seen any huge aero leap forward from Ducati in a few years, with the other European manufacturers Aprilia and KTM quick to catch up. That could change for 2024, if the veteran engineer’s words are to be taken at face value. The upgrade certainly wasn’t on show at the launch, with the bike on show a 2023 model (at least aerodynamically) in what was clearly a deliberate decision to ensure rivals have as little time as possible to study and copy whatever Ducati has in mind.
