Today is Give to the Max Day in MN and if you plan to donate, I'd encourage you to consider Breakthrough Twin Cities. I have been a Board Member since 2021 and currently Chair the Governance Committee.... and continue to be impressed by their mission and outcomes. If you aren't in a place to donate but would like to get involved, let me know too. The students are incredible, they have impressive (and challenging) backgrounds and even more ambitious aspirations. I'd be happy to connect you with one-time or ongoing ways to serve. What is Breakthrough? It's an organization committed to guiding students in 6th through 12th grade towards college readiness, but also preparing future educators in hopes that more kids can have teachers who have similar backgrounds and experiences to them. A few stats to back it up: 🔥 During 2023 - 2024, we created a community where 560 students felt supported, seen, and valued. We are now making an even bigger impact serving 657 students- 17% growth! 🔥 100% of the Class of 2024 students who applied were accepted to college.  🔥 The average annual scholarship awarded to a 2024 BTC graduate was $44,818.  🔥 70% of the 2024 Teaching Fellow cohort identified as people of color, providing role models that students truly see themselves in– sometimes for the very first time in a classroom.  🔥 98% of those Teaching Fellows report growth as a teacher. This past summer, over one-third of the Teaching Fellow cohort were returners, which is the highest it has ever been. Thanks for considering and let me know if you ever want to join me to learn more.
