A new study suggests that Caspase-1 and ASC gene expression levels could be used as biomarkers for MDS diagnosis. This could lead to a new way to diagnose this type of blood cancer. MDS is a group of diseases that affect the bone marrow, which is the spongy tissue inside some of your bones where new blood cells are made. Researchers have made a pivotal breakthrough in clinical trials, especially for those battling pancreatic cancer. A study reveals the brand of basement membrane extract (BME) used in cultivating patient-derived organoids (PDOs) does not impact drug response or gene expression.   This allows flexibility in BME selection for researchers, speeding up organoid growth and enabling faster, personalized treatment approaches. An interesting publication just out in nature communications. After sequencing >1000 breast cancer HER2-low and HER2-0 samples, there appear to be no difference in the genomic makeup of both categories apart from the HER2 gene copy number. This is another important piece of information that HER2-low is a subcategory of HER2-NEGATIVE without any genetic distinction. This means similar signaling pathways and similar responses to treatments. The only difference appears to be the response to ADCs targeting HER2 receptors. #breastcancer

Despite the advances made in understanding the genomic landscape of HER 2-low and HER2-0 breast cancer, challenges remain in translating these findings into effective clinical interventions.
