Exposed aggregate concrete is a concrete surface that has the "cream layer" removed to expose the rock or pebble. The type of rock or river-pebble is usually specified to give the concrete surface a decorative look. Exposed aggregate can be used on driveways, walkways, porch/patios, pool decks, retaining walls, etc. Exposed aggregate is very popular and looks amazing. It does need to be maintained by keeping a clear sealant, so the exposed river-pebble from coming loose due to freeze-thaw damage. Damage can be repaired but it hardly ever matches the original surface.
