Intel's New SoCs Reduce Costs and Simplify EV Designs #SiliconMobility, an #Intel company, recently announced the #OLEAU310, a SoC that simplifies the design and production of electric vehicles by integrating powertrain domain control hardware and distributed software into a single solution.The OLEA 310 FPCU controls the #inverter, #motors, #transmissions, #DCDCconverters and #onboardchargers while managing various power and energy functions. New Partnership Delivers SoCs for Intelligent Driving Systems Smart electric car company Leapmotor and edge AI semiconductor company Ambarella recently signed a strategic partnership agreement to create affordable smart electric cars. As part of the agreement, Leapmotor will build its passenger car smart driving solution based on Ambarella's CV3-AD series of #automotive AI field SoCs, which are built on 5nm automotive-grade process technology and comply with ASIL-B/D functional safety standards. They integrate an image signal processor to enable low-latency, low-noise, and high-dynamic-range images in both computer vision and the human eye. They also provide hardware AI acceleration and centralized fusion of raw LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar data while processing other algorithms and models in parallel. Leapmotor is validating the technology of the CV3-AD SoCs by installing them in a new passenger car, and validating the specifications, performance and reliability of these SoCs in a smart electric vehicle. Navitas Fast SiC #MOSFETs for #ElectricVehicleCharging Navitas Semiconductor announced the availability of its new Generation 3 Fast (G3F) 650 V and 1,200 V SiC MOSFETs for AI data center power supplies, on-board chargers (OBCs), fast EV curb-side boosters, and solar/energy storage systems (ESS). #SoCTrends in Electric Vehicles Unlike gasoline engines, which use proven and relatively inexpensive production methods, electric vehicles rely on advanced batteries and electric motors. System-on-Chips (SoCs) like Intel's new products provide a way to lower these prices. They simplify the control systems for batteries, motors, and charging, reducing the number of individual components. Integrating multiple functions on a single chip can increase efficiency and reduce costs for automakers.
