Last week, the EQT Chair & Senior Advisor Meeting took place in Stockholm, a key annual event held in each of EQT's regions of operations (Stockholm, NY, Hong Kong), where the EQT Network team hosted EMEA portfolio company chairs and Senior Advisors under this year's theme "Enhancing Value Creation & Governance Through Effective EQT Boards." The meeting featured discussions on AI & Motherbrain, DEI, CEO-to-Chair experiences, and included a talk with EQT Senior Advisor and former Cop26 president Sir Alok Sharma on Sustainability & Impact. We also announced the launch of the EQT Board Academy, designed to help EQT-appointed Board Members excel in their roles. Attendees also spent time reconnecting and networking during the event, and even had the chance to enjoy test driving Candela boats from the EQT Ventures portfolio. I’m so excited to be making this announcement today! It feels like the culmination of everything I have been working towards and yet, it’s really just the beginning. When I founded Ascension, it was with the intention of addressing stress and burnout in the workplace. It became apparent very quickly that stress was the end result of what was really going on and a lot of that came from company culture. In companies with high customer and employee retention (indicative of culture), the incidents of stress were lowered or isolated; contrasted with companies scoring low in retention and talent attraction where stress and burnout were statistically more significant. The number one link between all of it was leadership. I started to focus more on conscious heart-based leadership. How leaders show up is crucial to everything in the business which ultimately impacts the bottom line. Today I am so excited to join as a Partner with Advantary Capital Partners where I will continue to build on everything I have developed up to this point. Earlier this week, I spent the day at the Nasdaq Marketsite in New York for this year's Board Leadership Forum. There were many great insights from the packed agenda of panels with experienced board directors, but one quote really stood out: 'Iron sharpens iron.' We are in an era where boards are challenged with escalating risks — from talent management and geopolitical instability to activist shareholders and emerging technologies. Robust discussions at the board table, both with management and among members, are essential for a well-functioning, collaborative whole. So: Ask that question. Make that opposing point. Hold space for respectful disagreement. Drive the conversation forward. We can all bring our diverse perspectives to the table and strengthen our governance practices together.
