Today, we celebrate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and raise awareness about the diverse and vibrant communities of Indigenous Peoples around the 🌎. Indigenous Peoples live across all regions of the world, owning, occupying, or using approximately 22% of the Earth's land area. With a population of 370-500 million, they represent a significant portion of the world's cultural diversity. 🫶🏽 With this in mind, it is essential that we embrace and accept every individual within our community, regardless of their culture, background, or identity. By fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect, we not only celebrate the richness of our diverse cultures but also strengthen the bonds that unite us. Recognising and valuing the unique experiences, challenges, and perspectives of Indigenous individuals, and remaining culturally aware and empathetic, allows us to grow together and share culture with one another. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and appreciated. This commitment to inclusivity is central to our efforts across all our organisations, as we strive to build a more compassionate and equitable society where everyone can thrive and contribute to our shared success. #indigenouspeople #worldindigenouspeopleday #culture #community #background #inclusivity #diversity #acceptance #empathetic

As we work towards a future built on mutual respect and understanding, it's essential to recognize the importance of Indigenous events in corporate truth and reconciliation efforts. Here’s why these events matter: Honoring History and Culture: Indigenous events celebrate and preserve rich cultural heritage, providing a platform for sharing traditions, stories, and wisdom that have been passed down through generations. Fostering Understanding and Respect: These events offer valuable opportunities for non-Indigenous people to learn about the history, challenges, and contributions of Indigenous communities, fostering a deeper understanding and respect. Healing and Reconciliation: Corporate involvement in Indigenous events signifies a commitment to acknowledging past wrongs and actively participating in the healing process. It's a step towards building trust and repairing relationships. Supporting Indigenous Economies: By participating in and sponsoring Indigenous events, corporations can support Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs, contributing to economic empowerment and sustainability. Building Inclusive Workplaces: Engaging in truth and reconciliation efforts helps corporations create more inclusive and equitable workplaces, where Indigenous voices and perspectives are valued and integrated. Commitment to Social Responsibility: Corporate participation in Indigenous events demonstrates a genuine commitment to social responsibility and ethical practices, reinforcing the importance of diversity and inclusion. Let’s continue to support and elevate Indigenous voices, honor their heritage, and work together towards a more inclusive and equitable future. 🌍🤝 #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousEvents #CulturalHeritage #CorporateResponsibility #InclusionMatters #RespectAndUnderstanding #BuildingBridges

Sustainably Shaping Tomorrow by Building Today | IT Business Operations Analyst @ Deloitte | B.S.E in Civil & Environmental Engineering | Harvard SVMP '24 | OnePointFive Academy Fellow | Sustainability Enthusiast
Latinx Leaders Flipping the Script on Climate Solutions Carbon capture, electric vehicles, and geoengineering – are gaining attention. But the real game-changer? Inclusive leadership that ensures solutions are developed with the people they’re meant to serve. At the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration hosted by Latinxs in Sustainability, it became clear: sustainability is not just about (tech for) the environment – it’s about people, equity, and justice. What stood out to me most was the passion and dedication of the Latinx leaders working to make a real impact on sustainability in our communities. Hearing from experts like Moderator Ayla O. and Panelists: Gerardo Aguilar, Angela Tovar, Nicole Ginard, Samira Hanessian, Rolando Favela, and Lucy Contreras reminded me that our unique experiences and cultural heritage inform our approach to environmental stewardship. But diversity isn’t just about representation—it’s about creating broader tables where underrepresented voices are not only included but also lead the conversation. We can’t create a sustainable future without ensuring that those who are most impacted by environmental issues have a voice at the table. Seeing so many Latinx professionals on stage made me realize that we are creating a new paradigm for sustainability, one where equity and inclusivity are central to climate solutions. As I reflect on the event, I feel re-energized to continue my own journey in sustainability. It’s events like these that remind us of the importance of showing up, advocating for change, and using our unique perspectives to lead efforts toward a more just and sustainable future. 🌱 🌏 #sustainability #latinx #inclusion #equity
Thanks to everyone who joined and celebrated Latinxs in Sustainability's first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month celebration in #Chicago! 🎉 It was an incredible evening filled with insightful discussions, networking, and inspiring stories from our Latinx community driving sustainability initiatives. 🌎💚 Special thanks to Climate Action Museum for their support and collaboration in making this event possible! And of course our amazing panelists (listed below!) Looking forward to continuing these important conversations and creating more spaces for Latinxs in sustainability. #Sustainability #LatinxInSustainability #HispanicHeritageMonth #Community #ClimateAction Moderator Ayla O. 🌍 Celebrating International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples 🌍 Today, we honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of indigenous communities around the globe. Indigenous peoples represent over 476 million individuals across 90 countries, each with unique languages, knowledge systems, and ways of life that have shaped our world for centuries. Yet, many still face significant challenges, including the loss of land, language, and culture, and the fight for their rights continues. At Purple Sheep Consulting, we stand in solidarity with indigenous communities and commit to raising awareness about their struggles and achievements. As we work towards more inclusive practices in all sectors, we must remember that true collaboration begins with acknowledging and respecting the voices of those who have been historically marginalized. Did you know? - Indigenous peoples protect 80% of the world’s biodiversity, making them crucial stewards of our environment. Indigenous communities have long been stewards of the land, holding wisdom that can guide us toward a more sustainable and inclusive future. As we celebrate their resilience and creativity, let’s also commit to listening and learning from their experiences. Here are a few ways we can honor Indigenous Peoples Day: 1. GreenFin 24 Emerging Leader | EOS at Federated Hermes | Carnegie Mellon University | Delhi College of Engineering
Gallup has been studying employee engagement for the last 20 years and has found that "companies with engaged workforces have higher earnings per share (EPS), and they seem to have recovered from the 2008 recession at a faster rate." It also found that " businesses with a critical mass of engaged employees outperformed their competition." https://lnkd.in/d_dKs36f I had no idea about this connection when I first began looking for a job, but in most of my interviews I asked about employee resource groups. Little did I know that almost all companies have them, but the real questions are : 1. How active are they? 2. How much funding is allocated to them? At Federated Hermes Limited, it has been extremely special to be a member of the race and ethnicity employee network group. It has helped me build relationships beyond the EOS team and pushed me to think about how I can improve engagement and develop a sense of belonging within my team and organization. This year, as part of South Asian Heritage month, I moderated a panel on South Asian immigrant experiences. Thank you Sara, Mushtaq and Yasmin for bringing the panel to life by sharing your experiences! #EmployeeEngagement #SustainableFinance #ResponsibleInvesting #Sustainability #SustainableInvesting
As South Asian Heritage Month comes to an end, our Race and Ethnicity Employee Network hosted an internal panel discussion on this year’s theme ‘Free to Be Me’. Through sharing their own stories and experiences, panellists explored what it means to feel seen, heard, and respected within our work community. Thank you to our thought-provoking speakers Mushtaq Ali Meera, Yasmin Chowdhury and Sara Quettawala, who have shared their key takeaways below, and to our moderator for the session Navishka Pandit.
