The answer is ZERO! These additional 1-5 POSTSEASON games are also above the Players’ 12 game athletic scholarship agreement? Our Proposal offers Major Benefits in all three Categories to the Players and their Families! Scholarship Football Players are owed Hundreds of Millions of dollars from this year’s Media contract that uses these Players’ Name, Image, and Likeness NIL without any equitable financial consideration to the Players or their Families! This lost Money could have a major impact on these Players lives, the lives of their current and future family members for generations? We do not support, or agree with the House vs NCAA Settlement or the current covert attempts to extend and expand this Antitrust exploitation of our young (mostly minority) FB & BB Players' labor that the US Supreme Court and Federal District Court have recently struck down as illegal and implausible.

This initiative is a transformative gift that underscores the value of #education and the boundless potential of every student. For these young minds, pursuing higher education is a beacon of hope, a testament to their hard work and resilience, and a reminder that their dreams are within reach. Supporting HBCUs and their mission to provide quality education to Black students is a cause deeply important to me. I often quote the first piece I worked on as #NEJHE editor with him (when the journal was called "Connection"). It does more than provide foot soldiers for the American economy. Postsecondary education, more than K-12 education, has intrinsic as well as extrinsic value. Dear Friends and Colleagues, In 2007, a conversation with Georgetown University President John DeGioia sparked an idea. After the 1983 publication of "A Nation at Risk" ushered the era of “college for all” into American high schools, postsecondary education and training had evolved into our nation’s de facto workforce preparation system. But our understanding of the relationship between education and work hadn’t kept up with the times—and that urgently needed to change. When I founded the Center on Education and the Workforce, I had no real plan, no organizational chart, and slim funding. What I did have was a vision of the impact CEW could have through research and policy analysis that focused on making educational and economic opportunity available to all Americans. And I had the beginnings of a terrific team, including Jeff Strohl and Nicole Smith. With support from President DeGioia and a few philanthropic partners, we launched the center with a shared mission of promoting postsecondary access, completion, and career success for everyone. While I will never disconnect completely from these important goals and issues, it’s time for a change. So, after 17 years as the director of CEW, I have decided to retire. I have appointed Dr. Jeff Strohl, CEW’s co-founder and director of research, to be the new director. I’m confident that the center will continue to thrive under his leadership. My deepest gratitude and respect go to those who were with us from CEW’s earliest days, to our superb staff, and to the many colleagues within and beyond CEW whose rich insights, enthusiastic support, and commitment to racial and economic justice have informed and enriched our work. The promise of America lies in the ideal that we are all equal, deserving of the same opportunities regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background, or geographic location. I know that CEW will continue to engage in research, analysis, and policy discussions that support that promise. Thank you all for your support of CEW. Dartmouth’s men’s basketball team voted 13-2 to unionize. IMO this is bad in general, and very bad for college sports. Dartmouth now has a pathway to essentially pay players to don Big Green jerseys. As this spreads to other schools and sports, it will in turn make it easy for a big (well-funded) program (e.g. Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, USC, etc.) to make big disparate “concessions” (payments) during collective bargaining sessions to pay top dollar for the best high school recruits to join them, particularly their football and basketball teams. This will essentially become like F1 but with the same 12 teams showing up to the college football playoffs, Final Four, Frozen Four, etc. year after year…

“Despite only representing 3% of all four-year institutions, [HBCUs] graduate 17% of all bachelor’s degrees and 24% of all STEM-related bachelor’s degrees for Black students, enrolling ‘more than twice as many Pell Grant-eligible students as non-HBCUs.’ Charging tuition rates that are on average nearly 30% less than at comparable non-HBCUs, these schools are among the best return on our nation’s post-secondary education investments.
